Attempted to book a table for 2 for the Derby Final nighy yesterday under the reservation line. Got told that they are taking bookings for tables of 4 or more, which to be honest i can understand as this is the Stadiums biggest night of the year. I thought depending on the pricing id book a table for 4 just for myself and my Mrs so enquired to the cost per head.....£120! Dont get me wrong, it should be a great night but whether its a 5 course meal with a bottle of champers included per table, £120 for me is a little strong. I have ordered my general entrance tickets for £12 (much where id rather be anyway) and advised the mrs to use the loo before we leave .
I've heard some awful reports of the Derby final night re toilets, trying to get food/drink etc and im expecting the night to be a nightmare, barring the racing ofcourse!
It hasn't been bad getting drink the last few years, food?? no need for food As for the toilets, don't get me started on them but they will surely be in a better state than last year especially those down at the 1st bend.

Right about the food PF, eatings cheating in my book!
Does that sound in line with what they have been charging for dining on the night in recent years?
I know they will fill it no problem, but id rather spend the £480 having a bit of a smash on one!

Yeah as far as i remember it's been £480 a table and ye have to dress like a penquin (i'm sure it's black tie)
I agree, i've done the restaurant on final night a few times over here but would much rather be out on the terraces shouting them home

yeah its always about 125 each so it may have even gone down a fiver!
didnt realise they were taking bookings for it now, but i will be dining. it is strong, it is very over the top for what you get, but i cant stomach not getting a pint, barging all night, queue for toilets. rather sit down have the beer brought to me and easy access to the p155er.

Do they charge you extra too if you want a steak for your dinner? My mate said they did the other night in Belle Vue and then proceeded to give him the smallest piece of meat ever

they do on normal nights, usually a 5 quid supplement for steak, couldnt make it up, rather than have set menu and prices, why not just put down what they want for each dish? tell you why, its cos you pay in advance so if you dont turn up youve done your money, paying for it before you had it.

Was thinking the same thing Addy to be honest, just didnt fancy paying 4 times the amount for it
Lets see what improvements the GM has tried to make this year, a lick of paint wouldnt go amiss!

I have done both the restaurent and the paddock over the years
If I were to do it now I'd go with the Restaurent, sure the only problem is if you fancy a dabble downstairs, (which i normally do come the Dorando )

Not too cheap is it. But should be a good nights racing. Guess the tracks set the price and we can choose whether to pay the price (or not).
For example on the Racing front, I'm taking the wife to Cheltenham tomorrow (should be a cracking day out) - we are booked into the restaurant for £80 a head, the same restaurant costs something like £540 a head during the festival. Personally I chose to get an ordinary badge for the festival and eat another cheaper night. It's the same sort of food whether it's Derby final or Cheltenham Festival as it is for a graded night and tomorrows racing!
Not sure if I am making sense as getting a bit tired now, but I do try to remember: There are no pockets in the funeral gowns - i.e. sometimes it's worth splashing out!
Night all, Happy Punting!
