I understand he just did a 23.62 Romford trial. I recall that Nick Savva said the Derby wasn't a target but as a very strong, wide seed, I'm throwing a fews shekels on him each way at 200-1.

C'mon Nick change those plans and enter Maldini Devil
Report Czechbet April 3, 2012 12:16 PM BST
yep 200 is huge even if some doubts over entering, as was 66 George imo be a better derby for having both of them in fingers crossed

Lovely stuff. Nick Savva had his best poker face on when he said he wouldn't go for the Derby. We knew he had pocket rockets! Still saw some 150s knocking about on oddschecker a short while ago. Be quick!
Report Zach_Thomas54 April 18, 2012 3:56 PM BST
I just took some... not much, but happy he is in my list at 150/1!!
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 18, 2012 3:57 PM BST
Delighted i backed him at the 200s just incase, i'd be disguisted if he won the competition and i had nothing on
Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 5:10 PM BST
yep got 200 and 150 glad to see he is in it, had a sanity bet razaldazl george at 66's gone down and Barefoot Bullet @100s  retired, for me some stand out value in Ballymac Cryan @66's my main derby bet, won the Arc on a fast as fck track from off the pace, did a fair trial at wimb 480 last week, and the extra long pick right up his street as is maldini's, could be the year for a stayer again me thinks Cool
Report lanza April 18, 2012 7:50 PM BST
had a few that i laid already go which was pleasing.... bullet was huge red.

if penny's viking had gone, that would have been great (now deanridge)

managed a 5r at 150.... the sods...on maldini.

glad bert was entered, gives me chance to ge me stake back.  can only see a handfull og dogs winning this year.

i wanna do a mug special taylors sky / jfk  forecast.  want a huge price tho.  Laugh  ^mug bet i know.  lol
Report lanza April 18, 2012 7:51 PM BST
wasnt he a big winner for you last yr pf??  i luckily managed a reversal at some point if i remember correct.
Report lanza April 18, 2012 7:52 PM BST
i remember now...wasnt he on the train thread?  Happy
Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 7:53 PM BST
why were you a huge red on Bullet at 100s? derby form coming out its @rse strong running quirky wide runner, not many of them in it? shame he didn't make it wd on your lay tho
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 18, 2012 7:56 PM BST
Yes i had him backed to win a lot of €€€€ last year Laugh unfortunately didn't go to plan but them the breaks, when he lost Derby Final night it felt worse Sad

Had to chuck something at him at 200s just incase they had a change of mind and seen as i couldn't see a stronger candidate in that ownership i thought they could make a u turn
Report lanza April 18, 2012 7:57 PM BST
i took those bets thinking he would be too old and probably not come over about 6 - 9 months ago.
Report lanza April 18, 2012 8:01 PM BST
i wish it had been 100/1.Laugh   was 250+  i think for bout 40 quid.  was costing me about 8.  just didnt think he'd come over.  If a dog,  3+1/2 - 4 wins this yr... il probably lose.  Laugh

the 23.62 was given 20 fast, but was more like 30. ran well last two weeks at sittingbourne but needed every part of the 500m. cracking dog but not sure its the best investment.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 18, 2012 8:08 PM BST
It was a really good investment if you ask me. If your a trader you can get rid when the market reopens i reckon at a good bit shorter than the 200s and even at that with a bit of luck he is the type of dog that could keep qualifing. Of course there is also the chance he gets trouble in round 1 and is gone with his running style over 480m but 200s was too big.
Report bakewell April 18, 2012 8:18 PM BST
agree huge price, as for qualifying the trainers camp showed more than capable. as he gets older he needs further. sundays race was a good indicater of why to avoid dixies air tho
Report lanza April 18, 2012 8:24 PM BST
for me, there's alot of dogs shorter than 200 / 150 that are gonna be more than 26 spots behind sky.  (last perry bar run)

dont think he'l win, but trading op there. if you can get on.
Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 8:27 PM BST
Bullet was just a derby dog lightly raced as ever you could get and the type to get better with age, his main event is the English derby, thankfully for you he was unfortunately injured on the gallops in preparation for the derby and retired
Report bakewell April 18, 2012 8:34 PM BST
ianza, i agree obout the 26 spots not being a lot over the 6 rnds. i do fear the irish this year tho as most are gonna come on a lot after 2day. like cuil cougar.
change of subject but look at ferhill jess in the sprint at hall green now
Report lanza April 18, 2012 8:35 PM BST
bullet march 08, was already over 4.  for me (looking at my stats)  he couldnt win it.

was 2nd largest winner last year, but was def a dip in ratings since last yr and getting on abit, i have to get those in the book.

lucky? -maybe i was, i like to call it good judgement  -CoolLaugh

-joke.  lol.

Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 8:54 PM BST
i take offence to anyone saying "couldnt win" Confused

nevermind wd, had a nice earner out the dog last year 80's and 66's ew first 6, when he made final and at one point 5-2 joint fav before an unreal draw, of 2 wides he gets 5 and of 4 railers sky gets red whats the odds on that!!

soz for raking up old graves Cry
Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 8:57 PM BST
36 races he had they dont come more cotton wooled lightly raced than that, knocks a year off age in race terms imo
Report lanza April 18, 2012 9:09 PM BST
replace couldnt win with highly unlikely then!

didnt win at first attempt,
made final in the second attempt,

but was now over 4, showing a dip in form!!  getting old.

going for a 3rd go?  whilst getting beat by a few unfamiliar dogs.

also wanted him to get 6 in the final, but cuz i think it would have been better for cloheena.   (another one this yr highly unlikely to win)
Report Czechbet April 18, 2012 9:10 PM BST
lol i will accept highly unlikely no probs Wink

Would be a huge shock if Maldini has the speed to win the Derby, but wouldnt put anyone off backing each-way 6 places at the big odds Wink. Would have had much better chance of striking gold in the St Leger, imo. At least he's entered here! Plain
Report Czechbet April 19, 2012 9:57 AM BST
don't worry you won't put anyone off woody Crazy

the EW part bigger odds than half most peoples to actually win the derby prices...Whoops

slow run, tough grind derby this year, speed not as big a deal imo, the long pick up is our friend
Report patrick starr April 19, 2012 10:20 AM BST
Have bet maldini also, but only cos you had to really at price, but tbh he didnt run the don at all last year, has had a similar build up to last year also where he was running well elsewhere coming into the comp,i cant see a reason why he'd run the don any better than he did last year but am clutching to the hope he somehow does.

In my experience,if you cant stand somewhere, making me work harder there(ie the longer drop or the place i did my apprenticeship) just makes you hate it even more!
Report patrick starr April 19, 2012 10:23 AM BST
woodys sitting there confused about how someone can back a dog he dont fancy,NAP.lol
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 19, 2012 10:27 AM BST
I thought Maldini, Cryan and Apollo where the ones at big prices that could go deep in the competition with a bit of luck due to their running style
Report woodmanchester April 19, 2012 10:28 AM BST
Maldini is a superstar round Romford but even with quick exits, capable of, in the Derby will be tapped for early toe. Hot knife through butter from three-quarters, so no prizes for saying should keep qualifying. No surprise to see him progress quite far, imo, anyway
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 19, 2012 10:30 AM BST
If it would be no surprise to see him progress far surely you took the big prices about him?
Report patrick starr April 19, 2012 10:30 AM BST
agree pf,apollo is due a change of luck but wories me hes been on the go a while and in the toughest company, hmmm
Report woodmanchester April 19, 2012 10:41 AM BST

Cryan going to be koncking on my biggest ever AP derby bet at this rate, really rate this dog, Swindon was a sprintfest and he still did it the hard way
