anyone else read the bit in todays racing post aboutthe sheffield bookie BDC not having enough cash to pay out with, He must not take f/all cash with him,He will lay fook all when he take's a bet of any thing like he will back it next door, have seen him back back under the odds. Don't know how he makes it pay.
VALUEMAN, We could do with that bookie from Doncaster dogs, think his name is walker, Seen him take fair size bets not seen him knock many back, Only go to donny when open racing is on, may be a bit different with graded racing.

surely because the bookie who takes the biggest bet dont make them the best bookmaker. anybody with plenty of cash can lay silly bets and hope for best

The guy at Doncaster is top class. He knows the graded dogs inside out, will lay a proper bet and I've never seen him complain or even squirm when he loses.
Every track should have one.

I believe that Phils father worked as a bus driver, whilst my Dad was a conductor.
In those days you could whack the yobs & drunks with your ticket rack if they became a nuisance to other passengers.
