only 2 semis, its a proper comp, not like that daft bookies sponsors ones, which intentionally have 2 semis to try and stop the favs from qualifying and increase profits

Zach showing what happens when his main rival isnt absolutely honed for one race! What a dog.
Report ososhot • November 4, 2009 11:20 AM GMT
Cupra shouldn't that be what a pair of dogs?! They serve it up to each other again just a week after the leger final - for my money Zach was always going to better suited by this track and he's definitely the one I'd side with out of the Imperial dogs.
Report monmore man • November 4, 2009 1:59 PM GMT
Still makes me go cold when i see his name in print. Will never forgive the dog for when he raved like mad at Monmore and let Noelles Rappido come back past him costing me a fivetimer! I even had a a touch on him in that final at mass prices but will never forgive him. ;)
Report [x] These checkboxes suck • November 4, 2009 2:32 PM GMT
Fivetimer? What a MUG bet! ;)
Report CUPRA • November 4, 2009 4:59 PM GMT
ososhot, fair enough. Its just that Zach gets an awful press amongest punters and for no real reason...not since Noelles Rapido when I had my nuts on
Report monmore man • November 4, 2009 5:35 PM GMT
The six and seven timers went down on the graders... ;)
Report ososhot • November 5, 2009 10:06 AM GMT
22 open wins and you call the dog a raver!! I honestly think half the bad press this dogs gets is because of his bounding stride - the facts are that a raver would never, eva have stuck his head down like that and chased Easy down the back straight twice in a week. It's just a label that people put on him - to my eyes he flashed past both times, be it after the line at wimbledon.
Report [x] These checkboxes suck • November 5, 2009 10:07 AM GMT
Good fishing, nice try
Report CUPRA • November 5, 2009 10:23 AM GMT
ososhot - you wont find a bigger fan of the dog, but do look at that Monmore race - it was hilarious. The problem is that everyone thinks he is doing it all the time now, and occassionally he pulls the old trick out, as he most definately did when Seamies mugged him on the line. Still got to love him tho
Report pompey1 • November 5, 2009 10:41 AM GMT
why are people so offended by branding a dog a dodge or quirky?

he is silly fast, wins if he wants to but is a screwer, i cant see the problem love to own him

and also like his types in races really opens up the imagination anything possible

Great stuff. You can't make it up. :)
Report Duke Of Venice1 • November 5, 2009 5:10 PM GMT
Always amazes me too pomp, as you know we love a raver, the ones who know how to win a neck are the best dogs in the world!!

Does make you wonder what muppets think Zach isnt a loon though, even Wallis himself said 'he has a mind of his own', which is official speak for raving screw!!
Report pompey1 • November 5, 2009 5:34 PM GMT
alrite Duke hope all is well m8?

yes thought MW spoke well in that interview, yep zach the perfect type as he isnt nasty, hope he has a long career with no reds....
Report CUPRA • November 5, 2009 6:10 PM GMT
wow DOV , hows it going?Mark did say he didnt like bends, which is a shame as there are 6 of em every time he races! Get him over 8 bends on the bunny. Woooosh
Report Broncho • November 5, 2009 6:27 PM GMT
I dont think there is anything wrong with saying a dog is a dodge or quirky if he is, but Zach has been consistently strong all year bar one or two races where he should have done better. More consistent than tons of average dogs who throw in poor runs and they dont even get commented on.

His personality was highlighted by MW, but I didnt take from his comments that he conceded there was anythingwrong with Zach.

He has run in top races consistently and his win to race ratio is excellent, as is his number of open race wins for the year.
Report morella • November 5, 2009 7:04 PM GMT
When he throws his head up when hitting the front , i have called him a few names .
When he comes and leads late i still call him dirty names as he is a thinker for sure and theres always a nagging doubt he'll throw the race away .
The dogs got so many gears it's untrue .
He is IMO the fastest 6 bend dog in training .
If he got on with chasing the hare 100% " TR would go regular .

Got to say i enjoy watching this white dog run . If he took to hurdling he'd be unbeatable ..
Truth is hes the correct side of the fence , doesn't turn his head and his win to run ratio is excellent .
If he ran in the Horse Grand National he'd certainly be in the first 3 come the lollypop !
Report Jamesc6 • November 5, 2009 7:17 PM GMT
I dindt have him tonight but i have seen Droopys Zach race twice and it won by a mile both times
Report Bishy • November 5, 2009 7:18 PM GMT
Didnt the Dunphys get rid of Knockabout Wok because he was throwing too many thinkers?
Report Duke Of Venice1 • November 5, 2009 8:02 PM GMT
All good here Pomps/Cupra everything going well ta, how about you guys?

Still seems some want to defend Zach, not that he's being attacked!! The dog has stunning speed and is a joy to watch, there's nothing to defend. MW said he had a mind of his own, which is trainer/sky expert speak for screw. The fact that he is consistent and has won races doesnt mean he's genuine, sometimes there is debate with dogs, with Zach there isnt, but the game would be worse without dogs like him IMO.

Keep ya fingers crossed for Marbeck later boys, back from an annoying niggle 2nd run tonight, at his best he eats these for brekky, lets hope he still has his speed.

Report ososhot • November 11, 2009 9:10 AM GMT
Monmore Man you can't make it up can you - yet again Zach qualifies for another Cat 1 final and wins another open race in the process. What a raver he is - I guess the fact that he only won by a quarter will have u salavating. I particularly liked the way last week that he gave the Leger winner a four length start at the split and then raved all of the last circuit to win by three. It reminds me a bit of the times recently when hes won by six wickets (twice), seven and nine - clearly he was having a good look around then as well.
Ponder this - my pet greyhound was quite quick - winning decent competitions in very quick times - however I honestly hardly ever saw him pass a rival. Now who's the raver? The smash out dog who can only win from the front or the dog whose put together quite the most stunningly consistent season imagineable. He's been thrown into race after race - switched tracks all over the country - and he's won 18 open races so far this year! No injuries, no rest - the FACT is that this dog delivers time after time after time.

What does Mr Wallis mean when he says "The dog is a real character. He has his quirks but............."

He certainly didn't want to be passed last night and would have held Scurlogue off if necessary, but I was at Coventry a few weeks ago when he was desperate not to put any daylight between himself and his less classy pursuers. And why is a Leger win not on his CV?

I can't make the dog out at all, can you?

I saw the dog at Mark's kennel on Sunday and have to say he looked in great shape. Bouncing around the place and looked like he owned the kennel! Hope he wins next Tuesday
Report monmore man • November 11, 2009 10:51 AM GMT
ososhot, it appears you are not clever enough to understand what people, including myself, are saying . Either that or you are a wind up fisherman!!!! Show me where anybody on this thread doubted the dog's ability.
Report Broncho • November 11, 2009 5:55 PM GMT
I think its prob because he does get so much bad press no matter what he does. Hes had a first class year, particularly the second half, and deserves some of the credit hes now beginning to get
Report morella • November 11, 2009 6:15 PM GMT
The fact is Zach doesn't always put it all in .. If he did he'd break TR regular , he has massive natural talent but can idle when hitting the front at fairly often .

I enjoy watching the dog race and would rather be with him than against him .
