This is why I stopped taking any interest in the competition. And let’s not get away from the fact that it happens in reverse when played over here.
Saw two minutes of replays tonight and was disgusted at McIlroy throwing his putter in the air when missing a putt and not bothering whatsoever when it crashed to the beautifully manicured putting surface. Poor, poor etiquette. |

For what its worth he fully repaired the mark in the green with a pitch fork off camera. Still dont let that get in the way of a good story...

This is getting worse...getting out of hand and nobody has the balls to kick these people out.I really like the RC but honestly, the American 'fans' (some of them) are pond life. You watch what will happen tomorrow if Europe win. If they don't there will be nothing to see here.

It's mostly alcohol fuelled.
The Waste Management Phoenix Open stands out as the PGA Tour tournament most frequently criticized for poor fan behavior, characterized by excessive drunkenness, fights, disruptive heckling, and rowdy partying—particularly around the par-3 16th hole, which has a stadium-like atmosphere. This reputation has persisted for years, with notable escalations in 2024 leading to event organizers implementing stricter policies for 2025, such as zero-tolerance for throwing objects and enhanced security. However, even in 2025, incidents like fans throwing beer cans and engaging in "disgraceful" antics continued, drawing backlash from players and observers. |

what else can you expect from a country with no history, no class and behave like it's still the wild west absolute morons that's why they only have one song and Bradley just goes along with it .

By:
Really shocked by the “ fans “ behaviour.
To treat some of the best golfers in the World is an absolute disgrace and the authorities should be in the dock. I am not a golf fan or player but I am lead to believe you cannot play the game without socks. |

The European team were expecting abuse from the people paying to attend this Ryder Cup, but not from the people the Ryder Cup are paying to entertain them while they are here. In a dismal start to what turned into one of the most rancorous day’s play in the history of the competition, the female master of ceremonies employed to inject some life into the crowd at the 1st tee was recorded using a megaphone to lead a chant of “**** you Rory!” before Saturday morning’s foursomes. The PGA of America, which is organising the tournament, was approached for comment but remained oddly silent.
The atmosphere at Twickenham yesterday by comparison……. Joyous |

Time to scrap this farce. Its totally out of control. Only a matter of time before a European golfer is physically attacked.
|
|
By:
time to tell the ignorant yanks if you can't behave like human beings no more Ryder cups in America find a neutral venue.
|
|
By:
It is not the fault of idiots. Like I said cannot play at a club without socks. Golf has rules.
What sort of authorities allow this type of abuse? I thought sport was supposed to bring people together |
|
By:
They aren’t used to playing team games against other countries so have no concept of how to behave when it happens.
|
|
By:
The usual blaming of football fans isn’t possible on this occasion but will no doubt be back for the next Ryder cup.
|
|
By:
I agree slickster. But they are not without responsibility either, imv.

|
By:
I wonder if this will be Scheffler's last Ryder Cup. He looks very uncomfortable with the whole thing. The team dynamic is not his thing to say the least. I honestly don't see what he gets from it. If i was in his position I'd say, sorry but it's not for me.
|
|
By:
Can you do that in the current xenophobia of the USA? He doesn’t need the opprobrium it would attract not supporting his country.
|
|
By:
yeh, that's certainly a consideration.

Ignorant US fans spoilt what could have been a great occasion for golf . And not the first time some of their fans showed their lack of class. Seve never got the respect he deserved in USA , he was the first real star for Europe , opening the door for others . Monty and now Rory have also been subjected to unacceptable crowd behaviour .
Hopefully there will be some sort of order here in Ireland next time at Adare Manor . Like the rugby guys did many years ago when some hand picked heavies sorted out bad spectator behaviour on the terraces , maybe we need a "task force " to ensure decent respectable crowd behaviour . Shane Lowry comments re his feelings in post match interview summed up the unpleasant experience associated within the victory . It is a shocking comment on how a situation such as drew a stfu shout of frustration from Rory is allowed to happen . Shame on you USA "patriot "so called fans . Classless. |

Sky etc are in part to blame, the hype that they put in to this event is embarrassing.Trouble is the players are in to the hype hook line and sinker.Yes the fan behaviour is bad and will only get worse , what about the players behaviour week in week out ? Europe has probably the 4 worst culprits , namely Rahm,Lowry ,Macintyre and Hatton. There language and behaviour on course when things go wrong is disgraceful and the tours turn a blind eye to it.
Why should crowds behave when they see what players get away with all the time and what message does it send out to youngsters ? The hype started for the next one before this one had finished , the interview with Lowry after his match and whoever it was could not help themselves bring up Ireland in 2027.Embarrassing. |
|
By:
How would you expect class in a country that elected Trump as President?
|
|
By:
Pretty much agree with above comments. I did think it was rich from sky/Nick Dougherty to complain about their mc using choice language when introducing the players(what about the youngsters they said)!! As frames said we have by far the worst for expletives post shot -Hatton and McIntyre being the worst(they should address this imo). They always say well we bring you live sport!! What a load of ****

By:
As ever with the Sky golf team (Dougherty and Coltart especially) if it's USA players (or captains) and fans it's all a disgrace - anyone else is brushed over.
Much worse than that yesterday was Sky losing all interest in showing any golf once Lowry had got his half even though the match result was still in doubt (bad enough if it isn't). Couldn't believe what I was seeing. 5 minutes of interviews with Lowry and others and then a 5 minute ad break while Hojgaard, Hatton and MacIntyre were still fighting for the match win. You've got hours of post-competiion air time to fill with all the reaction - while the golf is on can I suggest showing the golf? |
|
By:
If they need t resort to the bad mouth tactics in order to win, then it’s not worth having. So many of them should have been turfed out of the event , it was ridiculous . Venue should be told it’s not coming here again for a long time

Cancel the Ryder Cup.
We had Donald Trump using it. We had state troopers with guns. We had police with dogs. We had abuse from spectators. We had spectators ignoring the etiquette of golf. We had caddies obstructing / argueing with players. |
|
By:
We had an announcer stoking up spectators with a foul-mouthed rant.

Sport is all about hype. The Olympics, so called big boxing matches, just wait for the Ashes, the list goes on.

Best thing about this Ryder Cup? The crowd. All day long.
Raucous, belligerent, noisy as hell and in your face - they made the event one of the finest sporting spectacles you're ever likely to see. Take that atmosphere away and it becomes just another sterile head-to-head event. Can you imagine going to a football match where you couldn't give opposing players and fans grief? You couldn't call the referee a w4nker, Luke Shaw a fat ba$tard or Tottenham fans peedos? Not for me thanks. No, the noisier the better. The crowd whipped up into a tribal frenzy. And the insults, well, more insulting. Thanks. |
