Somebody must have tipped JT Poston as now 300 from 560 .

I’ve thrown a little at him too kincsem.

Potgieter out with Koepka and Sam Burns at 09.47.

Some very tasty looking threes.
Schauffele, Spaun and Rahm at 09.58.
Lowry, Morikawa and Scheffler at 10.09.
McIntyre, Dechambeau and Rose at 14.48.
McIlroy, Thomas and Fleetwood at 15.10.

My one bet is Stewart Cink at 1000.

Age 52
He leads the 2025 GIR stats on the PGA Champions tour 77.78%
Cink has played three years on that tour, 2023, 2024, 2025.
Cuts made in three years 27/27.
2 1st, 2 2nd; 4 3rd. 21 top 10s.
Driving distance rank 2025: 2nd. 303.6y

He has played in 25 Open championships.
Best major results: 3rd Masters; 3rd USPGA; 3rd US Open; 1st Open

In 2001 Cink double-bogied the 72nd hole in the US Open to miss the playoff by a shot.
He missed a 20 inch putt to get into the playoff.

Won Me 28K IN 2009------Just the £3 on this time

alfee
Nice win.

I like a bet on the Open.
I had a few close ones:
Thomas Bjorn (2nd) 250 win; 100 place at 100/1
Niclas Fasth (2nd) 66/1 and 40/1

Good knowledge kincsem.  Impressive Cink form.  Have just noticed - kinc likes cink!
Terribly sorry!
I remember when Hale Irwin missed the ball FROM AN INCH on the 72nd to miss the play off one year.  For whatever reason he looked up as played the putt and hit fresh air.  I think Watson beat the Aussie who lost his arm to plane propeller, Jack Newton, and Wayne Grady maybe?

I can still see Bjorn’s misery.  Dreadful.  Yours couldn’t have any more so.

To go back to Potgieter - in that very Open I just mentioned Bobby Clampett at 22 and in his first Open shot 67 and 66 to lead by five at halfway.
Who knows?

that was at Troon Honcho, I was there that year, cheers.

Cheers bairn.  I take it you still take an interest?

Stuart Cink 3/1 Top Senior Looks fair Value

FYI.  Richard Teder an Estonian,  is one of the nine amateurs teeing up this week. He qualified courtesy of an eagle, holed from the fairway, during a final qualifying play off at West Lancashire.  Not many do that when it’s needed, do they?  No national titles but he has won three times on the amateur circuit this year.

Tender should have qualified in normal time with a par at 18, but whipped it out of bounds on the last,

Thanks for that.  Some people are just born lucky I suppose.

Not many household names teed off yet. Are they allowing the Americans to have an extra hour in bed to compensate for the time zone? Very early days but this course should suit the Scandinavians.

Weather turning sour
tougher  going for those teeing off later?

Schauffele underclubbing.  Two in a row.  Up and down ok first time.

Weird.

They’ve moved the 16th tee forward by twenty yards - during play.  Originally 236 yards.

Scheffler looking totally fed up like he can’t be arst.

how much you laying him for?

Won’t be backing him, how about you

I dont think he will be outside top 10, he has the best short game of the top players and doesn't give much away, much rather back than lay.

Problem with the Open, is it becomes a weather lottery

Good Luck

This win market is deranged.  Sungjae Im doesn’t tee off for an hour and his price has gone out from 300.0 to around 400.0.
People anticipating bad weather the reason?

More to do with Rahm, Scheffler & Schauffele all getting off to steady starts.

Right.  Thank you.

No fairway bunkers on the 10th.  Fringe rough looks very benign.

More market mania.
Keegan Bradley backable at 180.0 last week, layable at 120.0 two days ago, now back out to 180.0. to back!

Sorry I know the question was who will win, I thought this used to be on BBC...is thus more savings? How long before Wimbledon goes?  And still the TV license will go up. Might as well give a selection Tommy Fleetwood e/w

laid Rory for a tenner for a bit of interest on the back of the weather forecast - they reckoned he would have the worst of it. Low and behold the sun's out as they walk down the first fairway !

Good luck to you both.
You can get little broadcasts of slightly delayed action on the Open website.  They select the threeballs but you at least get a look at the prevailing conditions that all have to face at the time.
No need if you have Sky of course.

draw bias in play perfect conditions for the players from 3pm

given the perfect lie Rory found when he hit the ball into the crowd on the 4th, perhaps laying him wasn't the wisest move !

Rory needs to adjust his stance .  To date everything has gone left.

Perfect conditions now compared to earlier.

Tuesday and Wednesday the guys were nearly all driving the 17th, wind assisted , downhill. Today it looks like most are hitting 9 irons for their second , different wind .

Amazed Rory is under par as his play off the tee has been woeful; lucky the rough isn't too punitive.

Been a long time since an English winner

Deshambles embarrassing himself.

McIntyre looks vert frustrated.  Seems to be getting a bit nippy?

He needs to go into a training programme too.  Getting a distinct belly.  Not good for a top pro.

McIntyre is very similar to Brian Barnes, just needs a caravan and 12 Special Brews

Daley and Montgomerie were hardly gym bunnies-but I would say they had fairly lucrative careers.
Bit like saying Littler needs to lose weight-Why?

Sorry to cause offence.  Keep eating the double-doners Rab.

No offence taken
Just interested in your thought process that everyone needs to be ripped to play golf.
Now if you don't mind I'm going back to my family pack of crisps and 2 litres of fat coke,
Have a good night

Nice one.

Sungjae Im HOT!  Just wish he’d managed ut a day earlier.

Scottie drifted 15 ticks already since last night.

Meaningless for me.  The only one capable of beating him imv is Rory, who is trying hard.  But for me it is in Scottie’s hands already.

Wow!  What has Im done - back down to 300.0.
Go Im Go!

The 16th and 17th are such hold up holes.  A lot of waiting about.

Hole in one layers gutted.  Very helpful flag posi on the 13th.

A heads up for anyone who hasn't got Sky/BT and knows their way around VPNs using decoy USA zip codes etc, there is a service called Peacock TV offering a free 3 month trial. They have (to the best of my knowledge) The Open Golf and over half of the EPL games - including 3.00 pm Sat Kick offs. Apparently it's fairly straight forward to do as long as you have a VPN and know how to set up a US google account. I'm not tech savvy, so I'm stil trying to work it out, but if you already have a VPN you should be able to get 3 months for free.

Thanks Des.  Always helpful.

Most of my hopefuls didn't even make the cut, but,..

The usual tenner on Scottie and:

My trusty old standby has come to my rescue yet again. Don't know what I'd do without Scottie.

Has Rory really scored two eagles yet still can’t make much impression?

No.  They’ve had an eagle apiece, which explains all.

A non event and it's only Saturday.  Looks like a one horse race tomorrow

I'd say Scottie's biggest problem is making sure not to hit into a group of Rory supporters. He might never see his ball again!

SS has been outstanding...the other lot should hang their heads any chellenge just folded within an hour!

Rory’s fans on a tight leash today.  No balls finding alternative momentum to escape the rough?

It's obvious from his interview last week that he is able to take away emotion from his job
And it is just a job to him, I'd be surprised if his bpm got over 60 during any round of golf
He said he only gets a few minutes ecstasy from winning a major! WTF!
It's like the bog cleaner who wins the lottery and then is back plunging huge turds out of a public loo the next day

SAF said much the same thing about his successes.  The  deep satisfaction of trophy winning only lasted five or so minutes for him.

Waste of a jug..someone else mighta been chuffed and proud for life not 2 minutes

But they don't win because emotion takes over

I prefer humans..ai man bores me

Agreed Jerry.  The guy is awesome.  He was in total control all week, of everything bar the weather.  One of the top echelon of Open winners for me.

Never expected to see another potential Tiger spell of golf in my lifetime , the Scheff is an incredible player.Four majors in 4 years and you get the feeling he is just warming up.I can only see injury stopping him adding another 8 in the next decade ,He says his favourite things about what he does is competing and most of all practicing , that's a bit worrying for the rest.

He will never be as popular as Tiger , he obviously does not want to be but at the moment his golf is as impressive as the great man in his prime. As with Tiger he hits the front and it's game over ,I would like to see him win from a few back on Sunday.

Xander's interview was honest yesterday and I am sure the rest think the same ,it's Tiger all over again and when they see Scotties name at the top 2nd is the best they can do.

He is brilliant.

There is a lot of hype involved with this. I remember when Spieth and Thomas were supposedly going to win multiple majors, downturn in form and they are no-where near it these days. It wouldn’t take much for the same to happen to Scheffler.

CaptainCristy

I agree with you.
The king is always defeated.
There is a young unknown amateur who will kick Scheffler's ass in about five years time.

Scheffler has about five or six more years.
Niclaus had seven majors by age 27, 12 by age 33, 14 at age 35.
Scheffler has four majors at age 29.

Time will tell.

No one can be compared to Tiger but Scottie is the closest but has to do it for another 10 years which is unlikely , not sure about Spieth and Thomas comparisons, don't recall them.Spieth and Thomas have been world No.1 for 30 weeks combined , Scottie is 149 weeks and counting.

Good to see you still banging the Jack drum Kinsem,Tiger won 7 by age 26 and 14 by age 33.Blatantly obvious injury stopped him reaching 20/25.

Scottie has won 10 on trot when holding the 54 hole lead , he needs to reach 37 to overtake the greatest.

And won his last at 46.  Jack won 18 and came second in at least a dozen more.
Scottie isn’t even 30.  He should look at David Duval to see how irreversible damage taking a break can do.
The fact remains that Tiger didn’t catch big Jack’s total.  To say he would have beaten Jack’s haul is pure conjecture, and will always remain so.
I had overlooked just how good McIlroy’s record in Majors actually is.  More than thirty top ten finishes. That is stupendous consistency.

I don't play the drums.

In the ten years 2009-2018 Woods played 28 majors and missed 12 majors.
He won zero majors in that run of 28 starts.
I assume he was healthy if he started.
After his 15th major win in 2019 he started in another 15 majors and did not win.
I assume he was healthy in those 28+15 = 43 majors he started but did not win.

After his 15th major win in 2019 he started in another 15 majors and did not win.
I assume he was healthy in those 28+15 = 43 majors he started but did not win.

In total since 2019 he played 20 events ,15 of which were majors as you say.Might have got away with it in past eras but not this one.

Since Rory suggested to Scheffler he goes to a mallet style putter he has won 16 times in 38 starts , the doubters must be dwindling.Only injury stops his dominance.

Likely tiger was overgolfed as a kid which cost him
in stress injuries on his body as he got older.

..

Of course his dad wouldn't be aware of this
and maybe they are still finding out true costs
to youngsters in later life.

Don't think any one wants to win it this year,,,,

At one stage early 2000's it looked inevitable that Woods would break Nicholas's record (of major wins) so something went amiss. Rory looked like he might have a shot years ago but the field is just too strong these days. Woods played in a pretty crap era. I can only think of Els who was close to him, maybe Singh. Harrington was great for a couple of years than messed around with his swing and was gone.
