He bottled it .. very good player and has all of the game but lacks the mental courage when it really counts. I won't cry for him as he is a multi millionaire but will never win the big tournaments with the absence of steel in his mental attitude

1.12/1.13 done. That's going to be hard to forget. Never looked convincing even before he messed up the last from the middle of the fairway (final round 3 shots worse than anyone else in the top 15).

Wow, just seen the last hole on the news, I didnt even know he was playing tbh, I have bet on him for The Open and didnt even realise he was in this Tournament !! I would have been gutted to sayn the least.

Really felt for the guy as he is clearly a nice fella. His second shot to the last was very poor. Went with the shorter club then his subconscious took over and pulled it left to avoid coming up short in the bunker and potentially plugging . He had overclubbed a few times so get his thought process with adrenaline but clearly misjudged the wind . It was a poor shot but for me the two putts were worse. Agree with above comments as he never looked convincing.

I felt he should have been much more positive in the final round last time at Portrush, when teeing off second to Lowry and four behind. He had to try and make a quick impact and let Lowry, who I think bogeyed the 55th, off the hook a bit. Still, he’s only 34 now and certainly has an Open win in him.

Yes well done indeed. The support the American fans show Tommy as opposed to Cantlay on the first tee you would think they were playing in the Uk.They really have taken to Tommy ,chanting his name on 18 as well. Hopefully a major follows.

What is it with these professionals? First Ryan Fox wins twice, then Alex Noren twice, the Tommy Fleetwood twice. Enough already.
One thing in common is they are all nice guys.

Tommy Fleetwood, born in nearby Southport, has a deep connection to Royal Birkdale, having grown up sneaking onto the course with his father to play as a child. As a professional, he competed in the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, finishing tied for 27th, fulfilling a childhood dream of playing his home course.
I didnt realise his connections, he must have a good Home players advantage, what with the course undergoing changes as well. 18.5 seems more than fair imo.
