The lack of activity on this forum is a sign of how much trouble golf is in .This is solely the fault of the LIV tour ofcourse ,the field for the John Deere Classic is so weak that there is very little interest in it ,and the format of this LIV tour is a turn off ,ie 54 holes .This has totally fragmented the sport ,worrying times and itll get worse before it gets better.

Forum been dying a slow death for years so can't put this down to LIV. I do agree though, many viewers likely to be turned off by this whole sordid affair. They won't want to watch LIV and they won't want to watch a diluted PGA Tour. We are fast approaching (if not there already) a post-Tiger era of golf. Without a similar talent to replace him, depth of talent was meant to steal the show. Rory, JT and Rahmbo can't play every week. Golf might just be a 4 weeks per year proposition for many in the not too distant future.

pga tour wont be that diluted, most seem to think that liv are mostly getting either those who are past it or are often injured.the competitiveness of the pga tour will keep standards high. one thing that i think we will see over time is the standard of play from the golfers in liv will drop over time as they have little incentive to train hard while the top players on the pga will still have to work hard to stay at the top and they will either jump ship (depending where they are at in their careers) or accept that they have to put in more of an effort for less money but will retire with a greater legacy.

Cracking interview given by Horshell, he is spot on, they are free to play on LIV, just need to realise they give up the right to both other tours and the majors. Pretty simple really. Do they want money or meaningful titles..

Why?

Historically people have played different tours. Not sure why the European Tour are taking the stance they are. Over the last ten fifteen years the PGA tour has picked off the best Europeans and left them with the crumbs.

The requirement for Euro tour membership is 4 events easily done to play 14 liv, 4 majors and 4 euro events if not more. Currently most play the PGA tour the scottish and a few in the middle east.

I understand the PGA Tour fears but LIV could present an opportunity for the Euro Tour but they seem to selling their tour down the river to become a glorified version of the korn ferry

I watched last night as the heid-bummer of the R and A (whatever his title is ) sat at his press conference and spoke in code clearly inferring that new restrictions were under consideration as to who would be accepted as an entrant in next years Open.
Which poses a huge question, namely - How can a championship be called "open" when entry is censored?
No matter the reason they should not be tinkering with and altering the character of this great championship.

Players today are as high a standard as there has ever been.

Some fantastic players.

Sadly they hit the ball so far the courses struggle to keep up.

Equipment was so much better restricted back in the day,
that the courses were fine.

I reckon golf isnt in trouble but golf has just changed.
Money has changed this and i have a sneaky feeling part of livs agenda is to begin some sort of ryder cup style match between liv and the PGA/DP tours.
For me the liv tournaments just get way overly confusing and are a detriment to golf performance ie only three rounds and they are already megarich so dont care.
It actually makes the PGA and DP tours better as it is as the moneyists are not involved any more.
It does brings attitude to golf and the majors are about golf not money.
I do wonder what Augusta will do.They wont get it wrong.
