22/1 into 16/1 this week ! Hasn't won since the restart and after a missed cut at Augusta last time out where he looked totally lost backers seem to be taking a massive leap of faith !
Probably Rory's favourite course in USA . 3 wins now , course obviously suits his eye .
For Rory's first win there , his first in USA , when he had excellent golf practice facilities at his house , he practised on our course shortly before heading to USA . 2 reasons probably , Harry was a member then , and our greens were close standard and speed wise to the greens he expected in USA.
Good to see him back to 7 in the world , 15 was an insult ( though he had earned that drop ).

Rory McIlroy has slipped outside of the top 15 of the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in nearly 12 years following his tied-43rd finish in the first of three FedEx Cup play-off events at the Northern Trust.

Let's face it he's very average now as far as the Professional game is concerned. He sometimes misses the cut or if he makes it could end up 40th, 50th etc.
Wouldn't dream of backing him. I reckon half of us on this forum can Putt as good as him for a start. Awful.

the amount of times rory has led or shared the lead during the final round and didnt win is mounting......given hes a 4 time major winner and multiple winner on the pga tour he really is developing an issue...i think he does not play often enough......probably the same as tiger but hes not tiger.....compare the amount of times phil mick plays....its a lot......rory should be thinking of winning as amany pga events as him.....he will regret all those rest weeks.....

Quite surprised to hear the (British) media talking him up yet again this year. Seems to be quietly confident himself for some reason. I haven't backed McIlroy in a major for years. Don't see any real reason for changing that this year. Hope he does well, though. My main hopes are on Scheffler and Cantlay. Thomas won't be far away, and Speith usually contends here. Otherwise it's very open, and wouldn't be surprised if there is a long odds winner.

Has one good round in the Masters and all we hear is 'He's back'. He's back alright. Struggling to make the cut in a weak Wells Fargo. When will the media learn.

If you backed him regularly at the price he normally is, he'd have to win 2 or 3 tourneys a year to break even, he's erratic these days. From the sublime to the ridiculous with 2 holes

As a punting medium, the wee guy is a complete and utter joke. I shudder to think how much people have lost betting him short when he zooms to lead early in a tournament.

Once upon a time you could back Rory with a certain amount of confidence , knowing you were going to get a run for your money . That day is long gone , there are now so many imponderables in his game that backing him is a gamble , pure and simple .
Too many basic elements of the game of golf seem to cloud his game on the course , I have no doubt he looks consistently good pre tournament , but he seems to need every condition in his favour to reproduce that form in tournaments .
First round in the PGA everything clicked for Rory , there was little or no wind ( he cant play in wind) , the greens were perfect for him , and he delivered .
Second round he was out in the worst part of the draw ( element of luck ) , and specifically it was windy AND consequently the greens were not cut and had slowed up considerably . Two factors unsuitable for Rorys game , hence the poor second round , which in the final analysis scuppered his chance .
Was not following him closely , but does Harry Diamond help Rory with reading the greens ? Some Rory watcher could answer that for me .
Rory lipped out several times down the stretch , at the time when sinking a putt ( from shortish range) is vital in the mind game that golf becomes when the heat is on .

His main problem is his total and utter failure to actually concentrate on his golf for 4 rounds… He finds it impossible. Even before this week he was saying was tired fatigued etc. Laughable.

The Rory lovefest from Sky was both unprofessional and nauseating.
They were practically crowning him when he went 2 shots clear, then when Smith overtook him, suddenly it as to his advantage to come from behind.
Whatever happened to impartial commentators?
