Not a bad idea Hank. Big guns will all take the next two weeks off but the Vegas swing and the Zozo looks to be a fun few weeks. Really looking forward to the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek.

True TB. For the last hour we're talking futures, NFL, the Burns v Hughes heavyweight duel next week, Masters. Not exactly a captivated audience are we. Anything else anyone wants to discuss?

Think we're all giving Bryson full credit, Jedi, stupendously good final round and a thoroughly deserved first major. Think the only reason we're not gushing over it more is he's a total bell.

rhino 20 Sep 20 22:32 Into 11.5 for Augusta. Not for me, Augusta more of a shot makers course.
He has hit it pin high all day distance control been superb. Been superb around the greens as well and putted brilliantly.
Augusta is a big boy golf course these days.

Is it though? Tiger and Moli they key protagonists last year. Recent winners Reed, Sergio, Willett, Spieth, Bubba (long yes but a proper shot maker). Augusta has nuance others courses we see in the USA simply do not.

Drove it very well today... long obviously but pretty darn straight.
This is guaranteed the one he wants.
Fair play to him, great win.
its not just the driving the wedges from 170 -180 yards are ridiculous

contrived,mechanical,robotic..nothing really natural about his game BUT he has out thought and outgunned the USGA and their baby the US Open
however all the emphasis on his exocet driving and gouging out with short irons given his nearer proximity to the hole overlooks the fact that he has a superb touch in and around the greens and is a natural putter
u'll have guys trying to replicate his m.o. henceforward, esp youngsters but that will guarantee nada unless they have the attendant short game which very few if any will
he's just blitzed the field and set a record low for this venue so kudos to him
there is more to his game than meets the eye but it is not plesing aesthetically but it works
the authorities need to rein back and emasculate the ball and equipment
he would still have the smarts to win even were they to do it
anyhow it's all immaterial really as their is a bug going around that's going to wipe us all out(allegedly)

recent winners Decham , DJ , Koepka , more prone to injury

Bryson looked like the most likely winner going into last round, and followed it up with a solid round. I had a tournament match bet on between Day and Adam Scott from the start, finished +14 both Whats the chances of that after 4 rounds.

It isn't just the ball and equipment. Bryson has added serious yardage over the last twelve months due to the way he has physically changed his body. If you rolled back the ball and equipment he will still have a huge advantage possibly a bigger one than he does right now.
I am not his biggest fan but have to admire the way he thinks outside of the box, from the scientific angle to the one length shafts in his irons to the physical change.
He has believed in himself and made a huge change to his body which has payed off.
There is also more to his game than just the length. His putting particularly from mid distance was very good.
The game evolves and Bryson has changed the needle in his direction. The greatest compliment will be the number who try to emulate him.

Let's hope not too many though Mighty as it could ruin some. Read an article not long ago that at the end of 2017, Spieth made the decision he wanted to add distance. One of the triggers was his playoff loss to DJ at the Northern Trust, this was the one DJ took an insane line off the tee over a massive lake designed to be played around but he went over. Spieth played the traditional line and had a mid iron in, DJ had a gap wedge and subsequently a tap in birdie for the win. Spieth never won again.
I'd hate to see Collin for example ruin his game chasing another 30 yards off the tee. Until his Augusta meltdown and been MIA since, Molinari was another who had an amazing run playing beautiful to watch old school golf. Though at some specific events it will be very hard for the mortals to compete with the big boys, there is still room in the game for all sorts.

I still dont get it, his distance had absolutley ne bearing on this win, he ranked 7th and was only 15 yards longer than the feild average, as mighty whites says his putting was awesome, as were his 2nd shots.
THIS TOURNAMENT WAS WON BY GREAT GOLF NOT POWER...

yes and no system - obviously he wasn't the only one pounding the ball, but he was the able to hit controlled shots from the rough better than anyone else - that's where his power really was a factor. How many times did we see a big hitter miss the fway but really struggle to hit a good shot from the thick stuff? I am having trouble thinking of one BDC really messed up.

I think the issues will be with players coming through over the next decade as much as with the current crop.
Its a huge sacrifice that takes tremendous commitment to do what Bryson has done with regards to his body. I am sure there will be some who try and just can't physically cope or have the will power to do so. The up and comers will never have known any difference.
A similar thing happened with tiger and his fitness regime - many players around in the mid 90s didnt copy and carried on as they always have done. Fast forward a generation and you don't see many guts on tour these days and virtually all work out.

Not totally true, balls in the rough obviously weren't running as far as those in the fairway so the distance thing is not full accurate. It would be interesting to see the numbers in terms of the ball flying through the air. This also affects the lines you can take.
The big area his strength helped was from the rough. pounding those wedges from 170 - 180 yards was ridiculous

on a side note to this, do ypu think we will see any golfers who take this route on the champions tour, to my mind i'm imagining they will struggle past 40 nevermind 50 years old simply due to broken bodies?

yeah but phil hadn't been doing things "the bryson way" for the last 30 years, putting that much into a swing for 20/30 years has to take it's toll wouldn't it? I don't know, never been the most athletic, more the round sorta physique me lol.
