there seems to be something mentally fragile about spieth when you compare him to some of the golf champions of the past, that he has a comparable level of ability to but they didn't implode like this

Actually I think it's almost the opposite- his mental strength for a long time masked a lot of technical weaknesses (such as the final round last year when the game was gone but he toughed it out), but the problem is when that confidence starts to slip, this is what you get.

I still remember an opening round at Firestone a few years ago. Tee to green he was as shambolic as anything you would ever see at the top level. Dubuisson match play style save after save, hole after hole. Finally hit a couple of good shots on the last couple and finished -2 from memory. It left an impression. He'll be back cos he is a freak, I hit the pink when he was -2 so I enjoyed this one a little, has made my book sexy.

hardly, it is what is but i'm hardly happy about this meltdown. obviously you and a few others are feeling pretty smug about your spieth lays, but for me it's a disaster, particularly as I had him each way, all he did was have to stick around at the top of the leaderboard, now I think he might miss the cut.

Laid a load back at 11, I actually enjoy watching him struggle more than when playing well.

this might be a good time to back rose.. +1 not that bad as rhino was saying and I just find it hard to believe he won't contend at some stage... just needs to shoot -3 or -4 second round and he's right back in it

till wood s gets back on the winners podium dont see why anyone would back him,hes progressed on his comeback but still a massive step up to actually nail one

Rhino - dabble anywhere I see value.  Hit Lombard at 1000 when he was -2 and cleared out the rest at -3 and luckily he hung around.  Always a big risk with those ones of never seeing your stake again but this one's worked out OK.

this feels like a major won by a random south african nobody has ever heard of.

there's been too many favs win in majors lately. we are due an upset.

woods played well but I feel he will have to take more risks. essentially limiting himself to pars on the back nine with that approach, hard to make birdies from two hundred yards out in the fairway playing long irons to the green. brooks positive approach paid off in that respect.

Not sure I can see anyone currently at -3, -4 and -5 winning and would go as far as to say I would be surprised if any of them were still hanging around come Sunday afternoon. A decent round from Kopeka tomorrow and 40s will be a distant memory also like Noren at 27s ! Need to get the brutal winners onside ! Too many "Thursday" "Friday" type players at or near the top at the moment!
