D’ya think TIGER Woods could get out of a BEAR TRAP and into the SNAKE PIT! .....of course he would, couldn’t he.
... TAKE the 33's.

VALSPAR 2018 at Innisbrook Resort as the Florida Swing resumes this week in Palm Harbor, Florida. The Copperhead Course (par 71 - 7,340 yards) is a 'tinkers course' and odd with four par 5s, five par 3s and nine par 4s that tends to play pretty difficult requiring a combination of length and accuracy off the tee, strong mid-iron play into the par 3s and many of the par 4s and skill on Bermuda putting surfaces.
With up to five holes where water is in play. Most notable are the par-3 13th and the par-4 16th which is the start of the infamous Snake Pit (16-17-18) - one of the toughest closing stretches for a PGA TOUR event.

Course history / solid ball-striker / Bermuda putting surfaces - answer yes to all three then you have a contender. Throw in a classy player, and you have the formula for a big week. A ball-strikers paradise with tree-lined fairways and water fronting several approaches, big numbers lurk when the game isn’t tidy. Length matters (think Stenson 3 wood) as it allows for shorter irons into some difficult par 3s and par 4s, as well as the option to take less than driver off a couple of tees. The course overall is tight and tree-lined and often forces golfers to club down off the tee.

The cream usually finds a way to rise to the top with remarkably consistency and that speaks to the quality of the course. Course history certainly matters, as this is the only venue to ever host this event, but for those that may not have a consistent course history, players who are also strong on other Florida stops like Bay Hill and Honda could also feature.  (Yes, it's Tiger's first time here).

Andrew Landry has backed out of this week's Valspar Championship to ensure he doesn't miss the birth of his son. Stephan Jaeger will be the first man up to take his spot in the field.
MAYBE WAIT until after the Pro-Am for more withdrawals?

10 of the last 16 winners (& 4 of the last 6) were NOT YANKS !  or 7-of-17 champions were American. Callitasuseeit.

Horses for courses...

Fantastic data, Catch!

I looked at Na but cannot have the prices this week.
Look at this 'bag of cats' for example..Rose/McIlroy/Garcia....you could make a strong case for Garcia but not at 16's.

I'm not so sure about the cream rising to the top, O'Hair,Streelman, Donald, etc with Goosen being the only dual winner...more like froth than cream.  This thing is going to churn up a winner of sorts but the margins will be 'so' tight. Add a little bit of juice and a wind /draw bias (go early/late)..and you should go small and often at the bigger prices to give your self a chance of profit...can't even consider the Spieth price...he will be 20's in running ..even if he wins,,,he is bogey prone at the moment....despite his undoubted class,facts..Good luck to all.....you will need it.Cool

A cry for help or a buy to sell...who knows!

Be cheering Smith on with you DickT. Is anyone chancing Burns after his performance at Honda? A top 10 and taking down Tiger must give him the world of confidence, the fact he went bogey free with so many eyes on him that Sunday around a track like PGA National suggests he's made of the right stuff. I'm on at 300.

Speith doesn't even need to putt like 2015-16. Just having putting form where stats put him in the top 30 would likely have seen him in contention at the genesis and a couple of other tournaments.

Prior to today he was 163rd in strokes gained this season (probably even worse now). He has completely lost it.

Mr Meagi this why you get a lot of tiger!

Tiger Woods still draws sports TV viewers like no other golfer. Given the strong numbers CBS Sports and Golf Channel generated around his appearance in The Honda Classic, NBC Sports is praying Woods plays in March before the Masters.

Woods finished tied for 12th at The Honda Classic, but CBS was a winner. The network's Sunday final-round coverage averaged 4 million viewers, a 43 percent increase from NBC's coverage last year.

Woods has played in three tournaments, all shown by CBS, in early 2018: The Honda Classic, the Genesis Open and the Farmers Insurance Open. With Woods providing glimpses of the old free-swinging Tiger who dominated the PGA Tour, CBS's coverage averaged 3.3 million viewers and a 2.1 rating, up 14 percent and 11 percent, respectively, from last year.

With the "Tiger Effect" kicking in, CBS pulled its highest viewership/TV ratings in five years.

Woods' comeback helped the Golf Channel, too. Its live Friday coverage averaged 829,000 viewers, making it the most-watched Honda early round in 15 years. The cable channel's lead-in coverage of Sunday's final round averaged 1.6 million viewers, making it the the fourth most-watched lead-in telecast by the NBC-owned network in 10 years.

"He may be the biggest name in sports, matched only by Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali," former CBS Sports president Neal Pilson  told Golf Digest after the Farmers Insurance Open. "Does he still move the needle? The answer is yes."

Blinkey blimey Tiger on top ! The way's he playing I wonder if we will see a throwback to the days when he went odds on after about 25 holes ! A couple more birdies today and he is going to be very short ! Seems to be playing well within himself.
