Not a chance Spieth wins it Lewisham wouldn't back him with your money, sorry.
Report track record April 6, 2017 8:32 PM BST
how can money be refunded
what if you've layed someone else
at big prices with fav in
Report Wessex April 6, 2017 9:12 PM BST
If you back or lay a price in a golf tournament you are on at that price - no reduction factors or the like, so if you have laid in the Masters you probably laid at what turned out to be a bad price.  Those are the rules, always been crystal clear to me - occupational hazard, just like in pretty much all aspects of life.
Report track record April 6, 2017 9:26 PM BST
so why are bets being refunded on Johnson if you layed him
Report xmoneyx April 6, 2017 9:27 PM BST
FYI: We will be looking to void all outright bets/legs on Dustin Johnson in the US Masters 2017.
Report track record April 6, 2017 9:32 PM BST
so I layed Johnson and five other players
so how is it I don't get paid out on Johnson lay
but have to honour prices on other players who were obviously bigger prices before his withdrawl
Report Wessex April 6, 2017 9:33 PM BST
Because those are the rules that apply.
Report xmoneyx April 6, 2017 9:34 PM BST
a N/R
Report track record April 6, 2017 9:34 PM BST
its b0ll0cks imo
Report track record April 6, 2017 9:37 PM BST
none of my other lays are going particulary well but
just seems daft imo
the price on other players were because Johnson was fav
so if bets on him get cancelled why should other bets stand

its all above me

I'm off for a beer

There are lots of areas of life where I might disagree with the rules but I always seek to ensure that I familiarise myself with them before investing money or making any other form of important decision.  The way this market has been treated is as Betfair have always applied its rules in golf and many other sports.  As far as I know, Betfair has never applied 'Ante Post' or 'all in run or not' rules to golf.  If it did so it would specify this in the rules for the event when you click on them, which it does not.  Om some occasions, such as in Tiger Woods's heyday, I recall that Betfair might have applied a rule 'if Tiger doesn't tee off all bets are void'.  I think that Betfair may also apply a similar rule in some other sports markets where one competitor accounts for a very large share of the market.  The bottom line is that the rules were very clear and have been applied correctly, and if anyone who suffers as a consequence of not knowing the rules is in no position to criticise, blame or direct abuse at anyone but themself.

What happened to those backing him in top 4 etc, is that refunded as well?
Report xmoneyx April 7, 2017 12:25 AM BST
yeah,all bets void
Report hulk23 April 7, 2017 12:33 AM BST
if he hits his first drive and then pulls out presumably no refunds, did a lot of people a massive favour imo
Report xmoneyx April 7, 2017 12:39 AM BST
yep
Report stenson April 7, 2017 7:54 AM BST
i backed Johnson in the specials double with WGC matchplay and masters will I be refunded?
Report Wessex April 7, 2017 8:42 AM BST
What were the rules for this special?  I assume that you checked them like any prudent investor.  My guess is that it will be voided.
Report track record April 7, 2017 1:02 PM BST
not saying I don't understand the rules
but perhaps it is about time rules were changed for future events ?

bottom line not in betfairs interest to void market and start a new book

If you backed instead of laying... you would be laughing all the way to the bank when the big prices go down. You wouldn't be complaining.

Report Lizzie April 7, 2017 6:56 PM BST
Exactly my point @track record. I layed the field and cashed out before the off with a £25 profit. Cash out rules say "your position is closed". That means I can't increase my profit and am not taking any further risk. Otherwise I would have stayed in and layed in play at better prices. Shocked to find my lay bets on Johnson are voided and have gone to £300 down. It is an outrage and completely different to what cashout is all about. Get it sorted betfair.

11.2Tournament match betting (i.e. 72 hole match bets)
If a player withdraws without playing a stroke ALL BETS on the relevant market will be void.
