Robert Garrigus shoots 6 under at today's qualifier into the Genesis Open at Indian Hills GC's Eisenhower Course for his sixth appearance at Riviera CC (2-for-5 with a T23 in 2014).

It was a loaded field and many notables came up short today.  Other to punch their ticket were Aaron Baddeley (-5) & Curtis Luck (-5). Richard Lee (-4) survived a 6-for-1 playoff to earn his spot against David Kim, Roberto Diaz, Wes Roach, Andrew Loupe, and Sean Birren. Pity that OWGR #42 Matthew Fitzpatrick finished one shot shy of the playoff with a 3-under 69.

Any advantage NOT playing last week in Pebble ??????????? - Cold, Wet, stop-start, and SLOW - then maybe course form/current form horses like Bubba, Schauffele, Thomas, Cameron Smith or Patrick Cantlay might be on your radar.

Play Suspended in the first round indefinitely! with scores to reset after play resumes. Let's start again (most likely 54 holes ?)

It's a rare occurrence, the last time a round was reset on the PGA TOUR was at the 2013 Dell Technologies Championship (third round). Rain issues are not uncommon at the Genesis Open although officials are hopeful they won’t have a repeat of 2005 when Adam Scott beat Chad Campbell in a Monday playoff after the event was shortened to 36 holes.

Tour confirms updated plan: guys currently on course will play until dark, finish in AM and then won't play second round until Saturday AM. Other wave will double dip tomorrow into Saturday. Goal is to make the cut by lunchtime Saturday and still finish Sunday night. (See current Sat morning forecast is v good and will suit early/late wave of players more).

I had quite a scary realisation when I got up this morning which I'm sure has happened to others.

One of the players I'd BACKED had been voided due to all the drama with the bad weather conditions etc. BUT, I'd LAYED him sometime later and that still stood. I couldn't of LAYED without BACKING first cos I didn't have anywhere near enough money in my account to do so.

Fortunately my player (I won't say who it is to avoid discussion about his chances of winning!) has done crap, but he could've been at the top of the leaderboard!

Yeah the vagaries of trading when suspensions happen. Don't get me started on VAR in the football...

When does play recommence on SkY ?

Interesting that one Sheppy .I remember years ago a thread where someone had layed everyone in a top run scorer market for a lot of money but when all the non runners were taken out he had a red book for thousands .I think BF had to pay up but don't know for sure.

Sky timetable states 6pm. But surely that's not correct.
With delays ( and a 7am start in LA ), that suggests screening should start c3pm UK time ?

normally when there are weather delays we miss out as sky do not change there schedule to fit, so we will likely miss the rest of the players out now and join whatever is happeneing at 6pm.   Sometimes they change to show the amended timetable but that is usually only for majors or special events.  not saying they will not show the golf but in the past they havnt done so when there have been weather delays

It's going to be yet another Groundhog Day for the Genesis Open field – up at dawn, play what you can, head for the exits when the horn sounds to suspend play because of darkness, again.

Although more Siberia than SoCal, as it's going to be chilly with frequent showers with a very windy afternoon forecast - ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ! (and it probably will)

According to the Golf Channel, The TOUR may or may not have avoided its second consecutive Monday finish, but if things don’t move along like they hope it won’t be from a lack of trying.
When third-round play resumes at 6:45am local time, the anchor threesome of Justin Thomas, Adam Scott and JB HOLMES (my best hope) will have 34 holes remaining - the tournament that has become the “Interstate 405” of events - with a parade of starts/stops and nothing but break lights as far as the eye can see - The 405 is also known as the San Diego Freeway is a major north–south Interstate Highway in Southern California. The 405 is a heavily travelled thoroughfare by both commuters and by freight haulers along its entire length and is the busiest and most congested freeway in the United States.

“It’s going to be a long one,” said Woods, who added he planned to wake up at 2 am to start preparing for Sunday. “It’s just going to be a lot of walking and the last couple days it’s definitely testing the body.”
Adam Scott was alone in second place at 12 under par. 36yo OWGR #42 (from #100 last week) JBH - his 14-under (270) good enough for a one-shot victory - over runner-up and 54-hole leader Justin Thomas who laboured [i](and/or CHOKED - a pathetic bottler - as Genesis's Peter Gabriel says "IN YOUR EYES") while shooting a 75. Must have been tough going as Jordan 'Struggler' Spieth, whose final round included a birdie, par, bogey, double bogey, triple bogey and quadruple bogey on the 10th hole when he hit four shots out of bunkers, shot a 81 - his second-highest score as a pro.

All the way from Campbellsville Kentucky (and keen fisherman, who also likes to watch paint dry), Big Hitter HOLMES bags his 5th TOUR title, first since the 2015 Shell Houston Open, where he came from six back with 8-under 64 and won in extra time. This was his 13th Genesis, with 10 rounds at 67 or better here, eighth T25 and fifth T10, first since T8 in 2012. After opening with 63-69-68-(+70), he began four adrift today. The Florida resident (eventually) ending the week with one eagle and 19 birdies against seven bogeys - the obvious highlight came at the par-3 sixth hole when he aced it with an 8-iron from 147 yards (Srixon ball of course). Due to the vagaries of the OWGR ranking system, Rory McIlroy is set to grab the top spot from Brooks Koepka.
Neither player is playing this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am which means when the hard sums are crunched next Monday McIlroy will regain World #1 the first time since 2015.

Both McIlroy and Koepka will tee up at the Genesis Open at Riviera next week and if Koepka can finish ahead of the new number one in that event, he will grab back his crown.

OWGR #3 Jonny Rahmbo will also be competing at Riviera and a strong performance could see him leapfrog both Koepka and McIlroy to capture that top spot for himself!
Just three-quarters of a point separates the three players and so we may well see the top spot changing hands a few times over the coming months.

Course form/current form horses like Bubba, Schauffele, Thomas, Cameron Smith or Patrick Cantlay might be on your radar.. And thankfully on a ONE golf course event

Rory McIlroy: "It's a great golf course. We don't play golf courses like this very often anymore on Tour, and it's a real treat when you come to a golf course like this where it's not overly long, you don't have to really bomb it off the tee, but it's real strategic. You've got to place your ball on the right sides of the fairways. You have to make sure you hit it to the right side of the greens. You really can't short-side yourself here. You can't really get it above the pin.

It's a real thinker's golf course and it's a real treat to play something like this because we don't get to play them that often anymore. Especially those, I think I saw a stat the other day, that there was more 3-footers missed here than there was anywhere else last year, I think by a long way actually. Inside sort of five or six feet is going to be really important this week, because you're not going to hit the amount of greens that you're used to hitting. You hit 12 greens around here, you've done pretty well. So there will be a lot of those holing-out-type distances for pars that will be important. I think that's one of the big things this week for me, and I've been trying to work on that."
