Report El Bandido September 1, 2017 8:51 AM BST
You've played it nicely so far, scarlet. Definitely the right strategy to leave the big guns to the end, although it takes a lot of patience to do that when you're 4000th overall mid-season!

I've still got a few left for the last 2 events: Fowler, Stenson (is he playing the BMW?), Casey, Kuchar, Oosthuizen, Leishman, Cantlay, Henley, to name just a few! So plenty of options there, depending on where I am after this week and how much risk I need to take.

Let's hope Jason Day does the business this week and we could have a Betfair forum one-two finish!

Report El Bandido September 12, 2017 10:03 PM BST
Looks like the leader has used all the big guns. Still has Stenson, Rose, Reed, Kuchar, Leishman, Cantlay ... I hope he doesn't pick Cantlay!

2nd place has 5762pts. Still has Spieth, Rahm, Rose, Leishman, Cantlay. Surely will pick Spieth or Rahm.

3rd place has 5543pts. Still has McIlroy, Day, Casey, Reed, Leishman, Cantlay.

Well, obviously can't look through all 92 that are ahead of me. But hopefully none of the top few go for Cantlay, then I should have some kind of shot at it in the final tournament if he wins. Big if!

scarlet, I would probably go for Rahm if I was in your position. Chances are one or two others ahead will have him as well, and certainly some will have Spieth, but at least you should have a shot at victory in the final if Rahm wins. Although you might not have the luxury of being able to pick Spieth in the final if you're going for the overall win.

I assume most entries are from the US, so I doubt they read the RP! Maybe they just didn't have many other options. Difficult to know without looking through them all, and it just takes too long, at least for me in 93rd. They really should have a leaderboard that shows all the info we need.

Anyway, looks like a good start for Spieth. Don't really want him to win from a financial perspective, but it would be great to see you win this!

So it's a One and Done kind of format. Pick 3 for each day, but then you can't use them again.

I may well go with International team. I suppose it might be worth going against the grain in a one off game, and also as Rob Bolton points out, you've got a bit more chance of finding players who will play twice on Saturday. And besides, I just can't bring myself to captain the US team!

For the tie-breaker, I picked 12 matches down the 18th. A bit high maybe, but if all else goes to plan, that's about what it will be.

Only 12 players to pick from (and really only 9 picks), and 10000 odd entries. So I think it's probably worth picking players that are paired together on the first 3 days. All your eggs in one basket is probably the way to go in this format!

My rough plan is Lahiri and Hadwin tomorrow, assuming they play, with one of their partners if possible. Then I've got the Oosthuizen/Grace partnership penciled in for Saturday. The 2 big guns, Day and Matsuyama can be kept for the singles.

Just need Kim/Grillo to take down the Spieth/Reed pairing today!
Report El Bandido September 29, 2017 10:18 AM BST
Well, no points for me! scarlet, you must have 13 points, and leaders are on 20 points, which is the maximum possible at this stage, and they all picked Fowler, Thomas and either Speith or Reed. Front loading, but could find themselves stranded on Saturday.

Max possible for International team was 8.5 points, with Grace, Oosthuizen and either Leishman or Day. I'd rather have zero with those players still available.

Got a kinder draw for Friday, with Lahiri and Schwartzel against the weakest USA pairing. So it's an easy decision for me.
