Just posting this ahead of the Ryder Cup - isn't it crazy Europe's side chosen so early - surely Casey would be playing otherwise. I see the argument the players who did well on the Fedex will be burnt out but least they are in form.

Think casey has beef with clarke also

Casey is not eligible for Ryder cup as he doesn't play European tour events

Correct.

thanks for clearing that up.

Did he not have a card because he didn't play in any Euro tour events or because he didn't play in enough? I'm sure I saw him at Wentworth PGA but it may have been in a previous year.

The rules were changed from 13 events to 5 not including majors and wgc events. This was done so players like mcdowell, poulter, westwood, donald, casey who were outside the top 50 or on the brink of falling out could still qualify by the world ranking points without playing much in europe.
Casey decided he didn't want to take up membership and concentrate on the PGA Tour. This decision made him ineligible to be selected for the ryder cup. He wouldn't have qualified and probably wouldn't have got a wild card pick as his best form came after the pics during the play offs. Im sure Casey will be happy with his choice having turned an average year into a good one over the last month. |

does that mean a quick decision on the next captain and clear the air talks with casey to see if he wants to be onboard

dont think it had anything to do with clarke more a lifestyle choice. Casey has a young family, lives in america and wanted to focus on playing the pga tour. From his personal career it has probably been a good decision.
I'm not sure how much he cares for the ryder cup. It must have hurt when he found out on the course that he wasnt a pick in 2010 when he was ranked 7th in the world. He hasn't played since so I suspect he isn't that bothered. |

Get the feeling Team Casey sees it as a job nothing more.
