Spieth was fighter his swing all week long. If he had won then it would have been remarkable for a winner to not even be in the 40 on hitting stats.

Report ZenMaster April 11, 2016 12:55 AM BST
All credit to him for being out there in the lead for so long without being in the top 40 on other stats.
His course management was terrific and obviously his putting is the best.
He took offence to someone on twitter not long ago who suggested that if his putting is slightly off then he is a bog standard player.
He better get ready for more criticism, but i think he is a natural born winner regardless of today.
He played two bad holes and one catastrophic hole consecutively  when he really thought that the tournament was won.
What happened, he was always such a winner, someone who tightened the screw.
He will win many more but this is a massive blip. I can't see him doing this again.
Report dibdob April 11, 2016 1:00 AM BST
@Zen. He did the same thing on day 2 and 3 when clear of the field. Doing it a 3rd time was just unforgivable. It was more then just a massive blip. I made tons of money on Speith, but he is a no bet for me from now. I hope this humbles him and he comes back a more pleasant golfer (on course). Despite everything, he is good for the game

He was 3 over for the 17th/18th last year for round 3 & 4, and 4 over this year for round 3 & 4

I don't see that as a choke issue, it's just how he plays the last two holes, he just isn't that set up for them or he over attacks etc, but all the players have blips throughout the 4 rounds.

The jacket ceremony got a lot of traction on Twitter. Makes me think that aside from those that did defend like Woods and Faldo, defending champs don't seem to have a great record. I can't think of another time where the defending champ would be gutted by not winning and then have to present the jacket, and to lose like he did certainly not. Unique situation that was.

As far as meltdowns go, I think that was worse than Rory in 2011 and worse than the Shark in 96. Worse than Adam at Lytham. The 12th was truly Van De Velde-esque. Think he will be fine ultimately, has shown he can bounce back already.

people can say what they like but there is one thing for sure, and no one can  dismiss it spieth will have that in his mind the rest  of his golfing life,so when he goes to play a crucial shot to win a major he will have that to content with, thats not to say  he cant do it.but he will never be the same player before it happened  thats just fact.his second try over the water at 12 where he hardly reached water is possible the most haunting shot ever for a young man to  forget.
