Spieth easily.

By:
people have forgot how good Spieth was. Just because he's been crap for a month or so should be forgotten
By:
I think the solution is obvious here. Give them both the player of the year, neither player deserves to miss out.
By:
Not a bad suggestion Lewisham, never thought of that. Would you still think a tie if either wins this week?
By:
Yes I would rhino, definitely. It would be harsh on either if they had to lose out.
By:
You can't have two as player of the year it has to be one or the other.
Personally I would go for Spieth regardless of the outcome this week. Player of the Year relates to exactly that the year. Over the course of this season Spieth has been the best player. Day has had a tremendous run of late and is currently the best player but I feel over the year it should go to the man who has shown greater consistency - Spieth. |
By:
Day has been consistent all year & now achieving some fantastic results & possibly just shades it over Spieth who has also been exceptional for the most part (2 majors at such a young age is no mean achievement) but the final event might well be the decider
By:
Yes think it all depends on the final events. As it stands, their season stats are much of a muchness. Day has one victory more, but Spieth has the extra major which would swing it his way for me, unless Day was to add further to his tally which is not out of the question. Must be bit knackered by now, though.

In Day's first 11 events he had 1 win and 4 top 5 finishes, he missed 2 cuts and had only 1 other finish in the top 20
His last 8 finishes have been 4 wins T4, T9 & T12 twice Spieth has played more 23 times he has had 4 wins 4 2nds 1 3rd and 5 finishes 4 - 10 these have been spread over the course of the year. His last 5 finishes have seen a slight dip T10, 2 MC, MC, T13. Overall there record is Wins, 2nd, 3rd, 4 - 10 Spieth 4, 4, 1, 5, Day 5, 0, 1, 4, If we are taking it over the 2014- 2015 season Spieth has 2 wins and third (granted these weren't official tour wins) from the end of 2014. |

world ranking points gained 2015
Jordan Spieth 532.31 Jason Day 444.85 Rory McIlroy 310.80 Rickie Fowler 293.47 not much between them, probably whoever wins this week is player of the year, if neither of them win i favour spieth. |

2 majors wins
By:
if it could be a tie I think that would be about right, both been exceptional.
If I had to choose 1 I would prob say speith by the width of a **** paper. 2 Majors and missed out on the 3rd by 1 shot (to be in playoff). |
By:
Speith - end of story - his record in the majors this year trumps anything Day could do now to gain support.
Day is buzzing right now and looks hard to oppose in any tournament but majors typically determine POY. |
By:
majors typically determine POY
Worth remembering Luke Donald and Jim Furyk were recent POY winners without winning any Majors. And Tiger won it two years ago on the back of regular tour victories. But, sure, doubt any player has ever won 2 Majors, contended in the other two, and not been awarded POY. |

Some solid arguments for Spieth here has me going back and forth. Tough call to make for the judges!
By:
The year Tiger won it over VJ was about the only tough call (wrong choice IMO) - its usually a very easy decision and this years is easy - Speith.
By:
It is very easy, Spieth is player of yhe year.
By:
It's very easy, J-Day is player of the year.
By:
Speith same number of wins but one extra Major, simples.
By:
I am biased, but despite Day's amazing late run I also have to go for Spieth with the one extra major. Nevertheless, what a season. The future looks great for golf.
By:
I would go Speith, 6 weeks ago it wouldn't even be a debate. I know Day has had an amazing few weeks but it's about the whole season, and especially the majors
By:
Speith no question for me - what he done in the majors at his age was incredible
By:
No doubt about it now. Well done young man.

By:
argument settled.
World no 1 2 majors and the fed ex. What a year for a 22 year old. |
