I think it would be the same as any monthly medal, if it is chucking it down on the first morning you can just phone the pro shop and make some excuse.

I think the Augusta people like good manners. Tiger should not leave them waiting.
By:
there is no commitment deadline like regular events. You have to register at the event by the wednesday.
I suspect if he is going to play he will turn up on the sunday prior to masters week ut he may keep the world guessing longer. It depends whether it is poor play or health reasons that are delaying his return. |

A 3-ball with Woosie and Sandy .Price that one up.

If he's there we'll see him everyday hacking around.
If he's not there they'll be an in depth 5 hr special every day about what went wrong and how the masters is'nt the masters without tiger, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. |
By:
doubt he will turn up frames unless he thinks he can at least be competitive. Can't see him turning up if his chipping is still as bad or he has back problems
By:
I believe tiger will fall out of the top 100 in world rankings this week. Who would have ever thought that possible?

Just watched the highlights from 2005 Masters. 10 years since the chip on 16. Time flies doesn't it. DiMarco was so unlucky.

His sponsors will not be too happy to be throwing $50M a year at him if he is fit but decides to miss it.
By:
absolutely no chance he plays the masters
By:
imagine if he did and by some chance he got it together and won… would be the biggest sporting sensation in the history of any sport ever

looking at p power golfer to win any major in 2015
Jimmy Walker @ 16/1 looks good to me esp as only 25/1 to win the masters alone. Plus he knows how to win tournies. |
By:
bt of an exaggeration dean,he is in the top 20 in the betting. No one seems to have a clue what the state of his health and game are.
In 2010 he turned having not played for onths and came 4th. Granted he wasn't coming of an injury but still an impressive effort. Personally i can't see him playing unless he thinks his game is competitive and he is feeling healthy - Augusta isn't the easiest walk. |
By:
yes that effort in 2010 was just insane… i can't see him playing either… be interesting to know if nike will have any small percentage of a say in nudging him to play or not if he is healthy
By:
i doubt nike have any say. Nike need to take the longer view. His next comeback is a big one he needs to come back when he is healthy. If that means taking a year out then so be it.

just said on sky sports news his plane was spotted in augusta 2day, looks like hes going to play, wonder wha price he will be to make the cu

cut

love him or hate him he is the biggest box office human being golf will ever see
By:
^^^^ fact

By:
Doesn't mean he will play 100% Grant. Could just be doing the polite thing and attending the champions dinner, or he might want to test his body and game out with a practise round to see exactly where he is at. I couldn't think of anything worse for him going around at Augusta missing the cut and shooting scores north of 80.
By:
agree rhino although he has had two months of practise if his back has held up. If he isn't showing signs of progress now then that would be worrying.
It wouldn't surprise me to see him turn up with his game in decent shape. Like you said I can't believe he will turn up if he can't be competitive. |
By:
he has no chance. doesn't matter if he's Tiger Woods or not. nobody can go from playing like we've seen him recently to winning the Masters in a few weeks.
By:
even frames would lay him
By:
I don't think there is much wrong with his back, poor drives and duffed wedge shots seem to bring it on.

Tributes Pour In As Tiger Woods Announces "Retirement From Professional Golf" Following Emotional Augusta Visit

By:
"The best example of the progress Tiger made over the last two-to-three weeks is the worst-ball 66 he shot at Medalist Golf Club. That's where he takes the worst of two drives, the worst of the two approach shots, the putt that's either furthest away from the hole or the chip that's furthest away from the hole. And then if he makes birdie he has to validate. So if he makes a 10-footer for birdie he has to make another 10-footer for birdie. To go around that golf course, shoot six under in those conditions where you can't hide, obviously, you can't hide a weakness, and you think about the course record he shot there — 62 in 2011 — this round could conceivably be considered better."

I had a look at the Medalist championship card. Par 72, with four par 5s, and two par 4s of 335 yds and 318 yds. Birdie those six holes and it is a 66.
