THE 2015 BETFAIR GOLF COMPETITION
Welcome to the 2015 golf competition! The competition will begin on 5th March with the WGC Cadillac Championship. Please reply on this thread if you wish to enter. The competition is open to all and is free to play.
2015 GOLF COMP RULES SUMMARY
This year's competition will be staged over 20 of the biggest tournaments (see schedule below). In order to keep the competition interesting with this shorter format, there are a few changes to the rules from previous years. Here is a summary of the rules:
For each event, competitors are invited to select FIVE PLAYERS.
Competitors will score points according to the BEST PLACED of their five players.
Competitors are free to select ANY five players (no restrictions on favourites etc).
Scoring is as follows: Winner = Best RP Price x 10, with a minimum of 100 points, 2nd place (and ties) = 70 points, 3rd place (and ties) = 50 points, 4th place (and ties) = 40 points, 5th place (and ties) = 30 points, 6th place (and ties) = 25 points, 7th place (and ties) = 20 points, 8th place (and ties) = 15 points, 9th place (and ties) = 10 points, 10th place (and ties) = 5 points. Otherwise, if a competitor's best placed player is outside the top 10, nul points!
Points will be DOUBLED for the four MAJORS.
At the end of the Regular Season, the top 50 competitors (and ties) will advance to the Final Stage. Scoring in the Final Stage will be the same, with points carried over from the Regular Season. Thereafter, the lowest placed 5 competitors will be eliminated after each event, until we are left with the top 15 (and ties) for the final tournament, which will be the DP World Tour Championship.
One other change from previous years: DEFAULT SELECTIONS will be assigned in case competitors are away or fail to post on time. The default selections will be the 5 highest ranked players in the field from the OWGR at the start of the tournament week. However, competitors will only be allowed to use this safety net twice during the Regular Season, and twice during the Final Stage.
I will post a more detailed rules thread with i's dotted and t's crossed in a few days. I hope everyone, or at least the majority, will be happy with this new format. I look forward to seeing you all in the comp soon. Let battle commence!

Yep callitasucit, that's correct.
So, for example, if you had two or more players out of your 5 picks tied for second place, and didn't have the winner, you would score 70 points.

^ and of course, even if you just had one player in second place (or tied for second), would also be 70 points.

Happy you like the new format.
Like everyone on here, I really appreciate all the work Max put in over the last years. Without those efforts, there wouldn't be any golf comp this year either.
Actually, I haven't seen any sign of madmaxkelly in a while. So Max, in case you're reading this, I hope you will come and enjoy the 2015 golf comp without having to do the admin.

My withdrawal symptoms will soon be over after last seasons early bath
yep im in.but do you konw the last event the tour champ is the final of the fedex cup with only 30 players the BMW aweek before = 70.which may or may not skew the points a bit
dukeofpuke - I'm aware the Tour champ is only 30 players. And 5 picks out of 30, but remember this year it's only the best pick that counts towards the scoring. Also, it's not our last event, we will still have 4 more events to go after that.

i mean the world tour champ, but anyway now i understand the points it doesnt matter that much.i suppose a few in the last 2 events may just go for the outsiders if they are well behind
