Have never seen this event so am going by what i've read.
its a lengthy 7,350 yards par 71 track
proper hazards by the looks u can get caught by water on 1, 2, 13, 15, 16 and 18- could make for a great finish!!
links style bunkers should be avoided as well, but aparently they are positioned really well to cause the most problems.
so all in all a tough course.
right have done a little early work and the blatant facts are - most important thing is GREENS IN REGULATION again!! but as important is ACCURACY,you will get no-where on here without BOTH.
BUT - imo distance is pretty much irrelavent,so i'll be looking hard at the short drivers who need these opertunities for a win!
also i believe putting is alot clearer/easier here,so if u like the look of someone but there a little shaky greenside HAVE A GO - just could be their week!!
i'm having a couple of early plays even tho i think the prices are tight enuff ,cant see em drifting.
F.Molinari @ 18/1 - prob a obvious choice but thats for a reason, just peaking formwise imo and loves it here.
M.Foster @ 150/1 - not as big as i'd have liked but as said i dont see him shortening, glimses of form anf again loves the track
and two who will get the locals onside - bourdy @ 55 and havret @110 (365 best value i see so far.)
have others in mind but waiting to see what the prices do...
I am glad Larrazabal has pulled out as I would have been sorely tempted to put him up for the French Open but as it is we are left with a very difficult field to pick from. There are plenty of horses for courses players but none of them really appeal as actual winners - Richard Green being a prime example. I am going to put up a speculative play on someone who I think should be well suited to the stadium course at Le Golf National and that is Kevin Stadler. This is the first time he has played back on the European tour for years having won co-sanctioned events in Brazil and Australia much like his father had done before him. He travelled the world long before the present crop of young American players and achieved great success but that success took a longer time to happen on the PGA tour. He finally made his breakthrough at the stadium course at Scottsdale and that was what got me thinking as Brendan Steele has a stellar record there and he has been 7th twice here. As I say it is a speculative play but his 8th in the Masters shows he is a really good player and better than most on show this week 0.4 ew 80/1

my team is mainly G Stal $95 (in his home tournament) and Oliver Fisher $160 altho thought maybe he needed a week off?
will also have coin on Maximillian, Rock and Lewis and my perennial favourite Levet altho I did expect to be getting more like $800's rather than $250
i never back anyone much under $100's my team is mainly G Stal $95 (in his home tournament) and Oliver Fisher $160 altho thought maybe he needed a week off?will also have coin on Maximillian, Rock and Lewis and my perennial favourite Levet altho I di
Well my teams picked, not sure why, but did not come easy this week, i've ended up with one shortie,3 more below 100 middling, and a few longer ones, keeping a track of my selections from this week, but only those before the first tee-off, am gunna use points as its just easier, impossible to keep track of my in-running madness, so it is strictly before the off, these are just my picks, u wont be hearing me turning into a wannabe tipster.
F.Molinari @ 18/1 - main bet, everything to like this week for franco, form just peaking , in fact playing as well as he ever has done in his career right now imo, loves the course, results and himself verify this by all accounts. 4 points win
A.Hanson @ 50/1 - just so consistent of late, has the attributes for this course, last 5 years has a 4th an 11th, the other 3 all top 50, but key for me is, he has'nt been playing as well previous years so could be his turn. 1 point win, 1 place 11/1
G.Bourdy @ 55 - to be fair his course form here is'nt the best, a 6th his best a few years ago, but he's hitting the ball better now than ever, esp in the parts he needs, his accuracy and GIR are quite alot higher than ever in his european career, with that in mind he's going to be keen to impress his home nation. 1 point win, 1 place 11/1
R.Sterne @ 70/1 - 2nd last year so we know he likes it, and the fact is IF he's fully fit and playing well, this is probably the best price you will see on him all season, great player allways been a fan. 1 point WIN - 1 place 14/1
Ed Del La Riva - F.Aguilar - G.Storm - all around 125/1 - varying reasons but main on all being a liking fo the course. - all 1/2 point WIN 1/2 place 20/1 + 2 points top 10 all @ 10/1
S.Khan - M.Foster - - C.Lee - G.Maybin - all around 250/1 - Foster has course form, the other two are just runners i have been a little impressed with over the last month 1/2 point WIN - 1/2 place 25/33/1 + 1 point top ten @ 14/11/18/14/1 in my written order.
R.Bland - C.Del.Moral @ 400/1 - again not much more than an inkling, and imo signs their games are good at the moment. - 1/2 point win 1/2 place 50/66/1 + 1 point top ten @ 22/1 / 18/1 + 1 point top 20 @ 15/2 10/1
A.Gee @ 610 - Just a player i've become a little attached too, made me good money a few weeks ago and i see him overpriced week in week out, esp this week with the shorter course, driving not essential, actually have high hopes! 1/2 point win - 1/2 place 66/1 - 1 point top 10 28/1 - 1 point top 20 11/1
Thats 36 points - in all the years in this game, have never used a system like this, or any sort, so if you see something dumb, or its just out of whack ,let me know, dont mind advice, wont learn nowt without it.
Good Luck All...

Going to be interesting. Shows VD as a triple and Kaymer as a double on the first. Would be fairly incredible given only two other doubles rest of the day so far. Either that or the mkt leaders are playing like they did in the US last week.

Had to laugh at Roe this morn after Donaldson hits one close on a par3 "now u wont see a better shot than that all day" he coughs playing partner Levy steps up and u guessed it hits a better shot.

F.Aguilar -4...thank fook for u, steady round and liked the metal he showed after bogey, bogey on 16 and 17 then to birdie 18. M.Foster -2...good enough, just needs to keep it. F.Molinari,R.Sterne -1...only 3 birdies each, seems bogeys are going to happen any which way, so need to up their tallys. A.Hanson level...was 3 under thru 7,back 9 troubles as alot of players did, down but not out. A.Gee,C.Lee + 1...bah, triple on the last for c.lee, adam 4 bogeys, needs help - but they are only 3 shots off tied 9th, so well in it for main bet. G.Bourdy, G.Maybin, Ed Del La Riva +2...Bourdy, Goner - the others, rubbish, but i sometimes forget, these are top 10 bets essentially, and 4 shots behind that,so bets are alive R.Bland,C.Del.Moral,G.Storm +4...erm,only 5 off top 20! S.Khan +9...OK! even i cant positive spin that one!!!
all in all = sh!t but not out!!!

The encouraging thing for the chasing pack is that it is a course that is really easy to make mistakes on. He is clearly putting fantastically but the most impressive element is probably his distance control with his irons. Giving himself so many good looks.

The thing is it is not like that is a 10ft putt he has just holed!! Would be very worried if i was a layer. Noone from the morning groups is going to get within 7/8 shots. All depends on Gallacher and Donaldson.

With where he is hitting his irons to I think anyone of us could see him break par!! One of these times I would love to see shotlink and just what length of putts he has holed.
What I would say is that he has been fairly lucky when he has missed the fairway bar his miraculous bogey hole. I think back to the 4th hole where he was able to get very close to the flag from the rough from about 190 yds away. Others like Kaymer had much harder shots from around the green. They are the types of things that make you think it will be his week.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the weather. Just started raining. Will it soften up the greens? Make the rough tougher? Will the wind pick up?

Yep, he should be tucking into a triple decker burger thinking he is very lucky to have finished where he is I reckon. Although he must be spewing to have doubled a par 5 to finish.

I did post my picks before the off, Catch Me ifyoucan. There were none as I haven't had a bet in this. I'm in enough trouble in the Greenbrier. Have just added Patrick Rodgers.
Wouldn't have been on Stadler, McDowell or Kaymer. Might have been on Siem and Hoey and about ten others.
Good luck with yours.

Michael Hoey @ 38 Ross Fisher @ 65 Matteo Manassero @ 100 Rafa Cabrera-Bello @ 100? i'm up, early think it'll be 120 + by then wanted kaymer aswell, but cant bring myself to do it at such a ridiculas price 14.5 on here!!
obviously big gamble, but i think stadler shoots over tomorrow, maybe finsh 8 under, these 4 have been playing well, well enough to shoot a 3,4,5, even 6 under round. RIU, Victor - superb scrambling round but u simply cant maintain it.
would be intresting then!!

You can see/hear already how Mark Roe is dying to slaughter the poor American that has the audacity to be leading. The anti american stance by most at sky is deplorable

Roe always picks his targets carefully when slaughtering a player.
this is going to be fun, carnage on the front 9, the last 4 holes are going to be a massacre.

Three players, who have not already qualified (and who finish in the top ten at the Alstom Open de France) will secure places in The Open.
The CLARET JUG was on the 1st tee as a gentle reminder for HOEY !
