To be fair, Monty called it, he said Bubba would bottle it, and hey presto, he didn't. Remarkable.
Monty admits he was wrong. About what, everything? Splendid.

I was getting quite annoyed with some of the commentators apparently not knowing who Jordan Spieth was and having the inability to pronounce his name correctly. Being told Fowler was putting for birdie when everyone knew it was for par also upset me, perhaps more than things like that really should do.

I missed Monty on commentary , as I had terrestrial and sky both on different parts of the course and no commentary on my 2 TV's . Bubba is a product of his own times , self taught , and some of the golf pros would not appreciate that , its taking away a living from them as they see it .
Some of the best golfers I have ever seen had "strange " swings , some had lovely swings a la Jones and Sam . But Jack and Arnie and Gary weren't textbook , neither were Trevino and Miller . Adam , Oosty , Rory , and a lot of the younger guys have more or less text book swings , but its only the score that counts , not what you look like ( although often there is a correlation , just stand at the first tee any Saturday and watch your club mates attempt to shift the ball down the first fairway , some of it is horrible ).

monty wasnt 100% wrong.he first made his comments after 36 holes,& lets face it the pressure did get to bubba on saturday & he played badly.sunday worked out perfect for bubba, spieth taking the lead meant less pressure & he started to play more positively again.

Bubba played the best golf out there over the 4 days , which is why he won . He putted well too , and handled the pressure admirably . Bubba has impressed me all this year , different to previous Bubba . Comments about him seem to stem from the fact that he plays golf unconventionally , and that probably does not please the "pros" and those who would like to coach us all into sameness ( at a cost of course) .
Bubba plays a bit like Jimmy Bruen ( swopping left for right ) did back in the thirties . Bruen was essentially a hurler playing golf , google him anyone interested , and had a loop at the top of his swing , a throwback to anyone taking a side line puck in hurling --to rise the ball off the turf .
Bubba is No 1 in the Ryder Cup list for USA , deserves that , who can knock him ? And he won pulling up on Sunday . Course suits him too , big help , wonder when they will make it easier for righties ?

I thought Bubba could have won it by a few more had his putting been slightly better, especially on the Sat. His driving was very impressive, that said, on a course that is pretty much perfectly set up for him.

Kelly you left out Bruce Lietske, one of my favourite golfers, his swing wasn't conventional but he got it done
hardly ever practiced, but was one of the best drivers around, didnt play many tournaments but won virtually every year.

I know I am in the minority, and I'm not really sure why myself, but I really like Monty. I actually quite like his commentary too especially how he gets every event around to his Ryder Cup success. I chuckle every time he refers to "his team" and missing putts on the "professional's side".
