Rory was 3/1 for top 5 , so guess he was maybe 6/4 for top 10 . £40 on Rory at 6/4 would get you a return of £50 in total for your £40 stake .
Unless you backed Rory other than pre start , but it would have to have been after his second round as he was shorter after his first round than before kick off .
If you got £40 on Rory to win £186 if he finished top 10 you should get back £113 ( half of £226 ). Which is fairly close to 109 , and if it was on here there would be commission deduction . When did you back Rory ? , and was it on here ?

Agree with KR, at least half payout or DH rules apply (half stake at full odds)
So before I contact Betfair can anyone explain my return of £11.99 for £75 @ 2.32 for Rory Top ten???

I agree that this should be settled as 3 parts winning from 6 players tied and 3 parts losing as 8,9,10 are winning spots and 11, 12, 13 are losing, therefore half stake at whatever odds you backed him at.

Kelly, had £20 which gave return of £86 to £20, after his second round debacle I had another £20 at 6, which gave a return of £100 to £20, hence the £186 total. This deduction is totally out of proportion to the the number of competitors involved, before my payout I tried to devise how much I would get back, as there were 13 in top ten, so I divided the £186 by 13, which gave a figure of £14.92, multiplied that figure by 3 and this left me with a sum of, £186 minus the £44.76 of the three over the ten, this then would have left me with a figure of £141.24, which would have then been liable to the 5% deduction of £7.62, reducing the figure to £133.62 add my £40 stake and the figure would then be £173.62, instead I am ripped off by a disgusting figure of £109.12, which in fact is about 13/8 for an original around 9/2, does this seem right to ANYONE on here?

bazar it's not the whole 13 that you need to look at but the 6 that tied for places 8, 9 and 10.
You get 3 winning units and 3 losing units for each of your bets, so in effect half of each bet wins and half of each bet loses. I agree with Kelly that your total is 113 and then take off comm and the 109 sounds correct.

Yours looks correct to me, £86 to £20 - half stake £10 returns £53 ( 43 plus £10 stake - other half is lost)
£100 to £20 - half stake £10 returns £60
53 plus 60 = 113 less commission.
I'd be happy with that calculation for my bet which makes it harder to understand how settlements are not consistent

It is correctly settled. Backers of the top seven players do not suffer any deduction, as all of their bet was successful. Rory finished tied 8th with five others, so only half your bet was a winner, and half a loser, not three thirteenths as per your calculation.

The Viz, but what has happened to my £40 stake? If as you agree half of the bet is a loser, then half of £186 is £93, subject to 5% deduction of £4.65, reducing the figure to £88.35 but then my £40 has to be added bringing an overall payout of £128.35, so HOW THE EFFING HELL DO THEY ARRIVE at a figure of £109.12?

What about DANTHECHIP and his deplorable return to £75.00, what is the point if everything is unfairly and dishonestly accounted, you will kill the goose by your unfairness!!!!!!!!! When a bet is struck the stake should never be touched by the bookmaker, this disgusting method has gone on since gambling on events were deemed illegal, now that sense has prevailed and we are no longer criminals for having a bet, we can object to outside influences messing with our stake, without bringing notice to what was formerly a criminal act according to arcane laws.

bazzar you are showing yourself up now. Various people have all explained correctly how the bet is settled and the same method is always used to settle dead heats like this.

Update to the above, ran it through a formula on Excel and it came out as £87
The calculation is easy enough, ( Stake / players tied * places available ) to achieve reduced stake, in this instance 37.50.
37.50 @ 2.32 = £87
I think the confusion lies when your account is only credited with the "profit" of £11.99. (Where's my penny !!)
The original total stake of £75 was never debited so obviously would not be credited.
