Good on him, nothing worse than an injured golfer starting then pulling out just so you lose yor money.

Thanks to Clerkmore on the Arnold Palmer Invitational 2014 we had 26 minutes before this post to do the business. Thank you from the bottom of my pocket Clerkmore. And thanks to Twitter.

Wouldn't be surprised if both Tiger and Arnold filled their boots before making this public

Good job there's no 'Rule 4'. How much deductions would we have in our bets now Tiger has pulled out.
Report Kelly • March 18, 2014 11:32 PM GMT
10% at least sheppy .

I don't know who the big layers are these days - I think Eddie the Eagle and Knight Rider aren't in the markets any more - but whoever it is they must have taken a bit of a hit today.

In saying that, can the big boys lay the field? If not they just have to hope for an upset winner to maybe square things up.
Report therhino • March 19, 2014 7:20 AM GMT
There is an absolute pile of money waiting to be matched on the back side. Someone had fun smashing everything in after Tiger pulled out. Haven't seen amounts that big since major season last year.
Report Knight Rider • March 19, 2014 3:12 PM GMT
I still do some laying, Miss Anomaly.  By complete fluke yesterday I happened to check the forum about 5 minutes after the first guy posted the news, assumed he was taking the p1ss as my bets hadn't been cleaned out, then checked Twitter and realised it was true and managed to get my bets down in time.  Still took a small hit as obviously any players I had laid prior to the withdrawal were now 10% lower but such is life.  I suppose I could have waited until Wednesday to put my lays up, as I did at Doral.  It's certainly less of an issue than it was when Tiger was going off at 7/4 for these events!
Report miss anomaly • March 19, 2014 3:25 PM GMT
In general is it better for you now that Tiger is a bigger price? Total turnover figures look lower than they used to be, but when Tiger was 7/4 he likely attracted a lot more $$$ than he does at 8-1+, so maybe it balances out?
Report Knight Rider • March 19, 2014 3:30 PM GMT
I think a strong Tiger is always good for everyone as he brings so much liquidity into the market and that filters through everywhere.  More money on outsiders, more money in-running, etc.
Report miss anomaly • March 19, 2014 4:33 PM GMT
Ahh, right Happy
Report PeteTheBloke • March 20, 2014 7:14 PM GMT
I'd love to know if he's in The Masters. I'm a small layer but he'd still turn my whole book red if he withdrew.
I'd be in favour of a "rule 4" or an "all in run or not" on these golf tournaments.  A lone voice though, I expect.

If anyone was pricing the Tiger in or out market what would be fair odds? No one has priced it yet.
Report donny osmond • March 20, 2014 8:15 PM GMT
if tiger wasa genuine  7/4 for masters there would be no money around

we would need a rule 4 or similar to protect layers

ive seen them in tennis markets
Report PeteTheBloke • March 20, 2014 8:33 PM GMT
Betfair used to have a rule that voided all bets if Tiger was a non-runner. All bets.

I believe there was never a rule 4, though. It's a bit of a buttock-clencher if you lay in the majors.

A 'bulging disk' according to Jeff Rude.

I was going to be clever but Win McMurry beat me to it years ago.

Betfair got rid of the winner with markets because of the sportsbook...
Report Llamedos • March 21, 2014 10:26 PM GMT
Does anyone happen to know if the winner market on the Sportsbook had a rule 4 due to the withdrawal of Tiger Woods
