Two more little-known Cabrera facts:
1. His favourite type of music is britpop, and his all-time favourite band is Radiohead. He has seen them over 20 times, starting in 1991 when they were supporting James on their "Laid" tour, at Wolverhampton Nynex. 2. His favourite food is Staffordshire Oatcakes. He gets thousands imported to Argentina every year from a small shop called Barry's Pantry, which is in Alsager, on the Cheshirio-Stafforshire border. |
|
By:
His favourite programme is Countryfile, and he was genuinely tearful when John Craven retired from full-time presenting. He is unsure about tv presenters named 'Bradbury' as that was his favourite horse

This isn't widely known, but the Great Man was once a regular visitor to these shores, on account of his friendship with the late great comedian Bob Monkeyhouse.
The pair of them spent many blissful days together touring the quaint villages of England, wearing dark blue jackets, peaked caps, and holding clipboards. They used to drop in univited on properties, posing as officials of the Septic Tank Inspectorate, putting the fear of God into country folk. After half a dozen such visits every day, they would then go straight to the finest cafe/tea shop in the borough. Without fail they would order a big plate of Sultana scones covered in Lurpak butter, washed down with gallons of Yorkshire Tea in thin china cups, served by a uniformed and black-stockinged waitress. No finer pursuit for two men still in their prime. Note to lawyers : it's just possible I may have got AC mixed up with the late great Payne Stewart. Sincere apologies for any mistake on my part. |

Ironically his milkman was called Mr Babbage.
There's a thing. There's more than tour-tips for useful information. |

In the mid 1980s he won an under 18s mixed doubles tennis tournament with fellow Argentinian Gabriella Sabatini ! At the time she was very taken with the 'Handsome' Angel and wanted to date him. Unfortunately for her he was not so smitten and was quoted as saying "I don't go out with ugly birds"

Krabs that a very good one.
![]() Keep em coming! |

but it isn't true because aged 18 she had already married Rory Sabatini's older brother.

andrew lloyd webber wrote some music for evita whilst enjoying a pie and mash dinner in the mens bar of cabreras home club
the original lyrics hang in the clubhouse and are signed to nacho with love... Don't cry for me Argentina The truth is I never left you All through my wild driving days My mad existence I kept my promise Don't lose your distance And as for pitching and as for putting I never practiced them much Though it seemed to the world that was all i could do They are illusions They are not the solutions they promised to be The answer was here all the time I love you and hope you love me Don't cry for me Argentina |

I hear he loves his karaoke and Angel by Jimi Hendrix is his favourite. Plays a pretty good air guitar which he sometimes tries to set alight a la Jimi.

Cabrera, when not playing on tour, is also a physiotherapist. He has done some fantastic work but his greatest achievement has been aiding the recovery of Robert Karlsson on his very long road back from injury. Whilst still not there yet and the injury was quite ghastly and almost a career finisher, the sprained pinky toe has almost healed from it's mild contact with the coffee table. Cabrera is being lauded in medical circles as a miracle worker.
