Who can explain why Tiger is so short to win the Grand Slam (Tiger Specials market)?

If you did an acca on all the tournaments at the moment you'd be looking at over 1000-1. The price for a Grand Slam is 55.0

Now I know it's a "related" bet so the bookies wouldn't let you have it, but let's say you rolled the winnings up yourself (a manual four-fold),
I reckon you'd get at least 200/1 (assumes Masters 7/2, US Open 3/1, Open 3/1 and PGA 2/1 - and those are ridiculously low prices, aren't they?).

Here's another thought.

He's 1.9 on here to get no majors. He's 5/4 against winning ANY majors with PP. There's an arb for starters.

id want bigger than 55/1 just to win us open and uspga given the courses this year

I think shorter courses would suit him more because he can just hit long irons off the tee. On longer courses he needs the driver and that is the weak part of his game. Remember Royal Liverpool where he only hit 1 driver in 72 holes and shot 18 under.

Excuse my ignorance - are this year's majors on long or short courses? I don't know a lot about golf.

Pete. Give me an example please of what sort of bets you would have on that arb and what return you think you would get

55 does seem kind of short but if Tiger starts stringing together majors, the prices you mentioned are definitely not ridiculously low

Thanks for taking an interest gosmash.

Tiger to win no majors £52.63 at 1.9 returns £100
Tiger to win at least one major £44.44 at 2.25 returns £100

Invested = £97.07
Return = £100

OK, you wouldn't play at those prices because of the commission at BF, but my point is that the market
is distorted and the grand slam price is way off. The Rory specials are even stranger (IMHO).

Sam, 7/2, 2/1, 2/1, 2/1 returns 120/1.

I'd be astonished if you couldn't get 2/1 for each major. It's a long old season.

If he bags the first three can I book some 2/1 for the PGA please Pete ?

You'd bet him at 2/1 just because he'd won 3 majors already?

OK, say he was evens by the time the PGA came round, he'd never be 2/1 for The Open.

Anyway, I can't afford much, but if anyone wants 70 fivers I've just put it up there.

Bear in mind that (even at the bookies' prices) I've got a 78% of collecting next week.

you wouldnt be able to get 2/1 if the uspga was the final link in the grand slam

rightly or wrongly, and, if tiger dots up next week it,ll be all out panic amongst the bookies

i still reckon there have been, and perhaps will be again more favourable us open and us pga courses for tiger

You can still bet Tiger and Rory for the Grand Slam. I'm trying to clarify with BF whether
bets will be valid or void if struck now. Someone's sure to click the wrong side between now
and the PGA.

Update. You can no longer bet them for a grand slam. Some nice prices there for 2 or 3 majors
if anyone wants to play....

Happy

Well, that was OK. I was a bit nervous yesterday when he was in contention, but I've got one major
a good winner and no majors a reasonable winner, so it all worked out nicely.
