Played at a new venue this time around.

Peter Whiteford interests me here.

He is clearly comfortable in this part of the world.  I believe that he was either leading, or close to it, last year after two rounds, before getting disqualified. Also finished 18th in 2010.

150/1 is a fair price, against a poor field, and I am on E/W.

Also had a wee few on Jorge Campillo E/W at 100s.

I liks this fella, and feel that a win is not far off for him. Here's hoping that he's in a play off with Whiteford.

* I like this fella... Certainly wouldn't lick him... Well, I might if he won the thing.

Pretty **** thing to do, mock a man's picks, particularly when you offer nothing of your own. We all know 150 shots are unlikely to oblige. Hopefully this one can go close and your comment can come back and bite you in the ass.

Most of the overseas players will not be familiar with the Jaypee Greens course unless they played it in 2008 in the SAIL Open but it will be very familiar to lots of home players as it has been host to the BILT Open on and off for many years and I have just gone with that for my three picks.
Anirban Lahiri has a great record in that event finishing 2nd behind Randhawa in 2008, winning in 2009 and then shooting a course record 60 on round two but letting a five shot lead slip in the final round to finish 2nd in 2011. He defended his SAIL Open title last week in Delhi so is clealry in good form but at the price available I will keep the bet on the small side 0.25 ew 30/1.
The man that beat Lahiri in 2011 was Chiragh Kumar and he is my second pick. All his best form is shown at home in India - 2nd in the Indian Open in 2011 and 8th in that event four months ago and he also has two other wins on his home tour. He has played twice this year and got off to quick starts being in the top five (admittedly one was a small home event) and I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up early 0.1 ew 400/1 + 0.1 ew Rd 1 leader 150/1
Last bet and for round one leader only is Vikrant Chopra and this really is from left field as his form generally is very poor BUT in the last two BILT Opens he has held the outright lead after day one so with familiar surroundings - stranger things have happened! 0.1 ew 300/1

Some bad prices here....lots of the books offer better odds than most of the field...

Never thought I'd see the day Anirban Lahiri was in the top-3 of the market before tee-off. Good luck with him TMM Happy

sticking with Joel Sjoholm his distance off the tee will suit this week with wide fairways/not much rough.
125s with hills.
good luck all.

Just gone for the two bets in this.

Bhullar - Not the most original of picks but did finish 5th here in an Asian Tour event when he was just a 19yo kid back in 2008.Also now the touring pro for the host venue and i've bet him each way at 33s.

Aphibarnrat - A trophy engravers worst nightmare but another talented young Asian Tour pro that can play a bit.Has played just the one 72 hole tournament on the Asian Tour this season when he finished 3rd in Myanmar but in addition to that he also won the 36 hole hole Asian International Qualifier for this summers Open at the start of this month.Has also won a SAIL Open in New Delhi in 2011,so playing back in the same area will surely bring back some good memories.Had an each way bet at 40s.

Leader -11 1st round and 8 birdies on the back nine.

Has anyone ever birdied every hole in either the first nine/back nine?
Report NorwichRob • March 14, 2013 11:13 AM GMT
Doubt it in a Tour Event, maybe at a lower level funnily enough..
Report NorwichRob • March 14, 2013 11:20 AM GMT
Calcavecchia had 9 consecutive birdies in 2009 Canadian Open, only player to do so, but starting from 12th hole (his 3rd obviously).

Wonder what year someone will shoot an 18 birdie 54?...'if you don't birdie the 1st you can't birdie them all'...see there was a 55 shot in Aus at a track over 6,500 yds, 12 birdies & 2 eagles, but I guess Laugh the pressure builds on consecutive birdies..
Report poorestpunter • March 14, 2013 5:39 PM GMT
I knocked in a 48 on Tiger Woods 2001 (or maybe 2002) on the PS2, it took a bit of doing and many hours of practice. I had been knocking on the door for a while, playing really good stuff at home, my swing was in good shape, so it was just a matter of it all coming together at the right time (as any golfer would say after a such a round).
Report NorwichRob • March 14, 2013 7:37 PM GMT
Impressive...does that equate to 6 holes at the local muni...
Report poorestpunter • March 15, 2013 12:24 AM GMT
Well, now you mention it, I once shot a 42 on the front 9 at the local muni.  Par was a pretty generous 33, still stands as my PB.

do strongly fancy a winner off the pace, notably Jeev or Ganga, who only needs a couple putts to exploit his course knowledge and form (flying in both distance and acc off the tee). Feel both are overpriced and also in the top-10 market and Id expect a lot of the current top 10 to stall come payday
