I notice Dustybin is over for this, fair dues but will probably have a RC hangover to overcome unfortunately as he seems to revel in linksy type golf, probably threw away the 2011 Open. Pod three weeks off, so should be fresh, and has won this before, might be a starting point and Oosty looks poised for a victory soon but both are priced accordingly. Maybe Branden Grace at the prices to get back his early season form, back on a links set up.

I'm avoiding the RC players, thinking Harrington and Ramsay who I've backed. Might also add Dyson to return to some form.

i fancied dyson, but he was with 5live in usa, i hope he is inspired, and didnt join in the celebrations too much

Cheers for the heads up 5Live. Now that you say it I remember him saying he might go on his own just to watch.

Charl seems short for someone first up after a few weeks off with injury. He's a gun, but he's been injured and out of form for most of the season, so 30s is not for me.

I fancy a long odds winner this week, but have no idea who Plain

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of those events that I am still not sure I enjoy - the final day is fine but before that it all seems a bit disjointed, lengthy and full of people you don't really want to watch swing a club. Still - it has been pretty good to me in the past and I have bet three players to hopefully make it worthwhile watching!
Tom Gillis was the first player I backed on Betfair on Sunday night at 500/1 and was more than happy when the books opened at 200/1. He is a bit like Mulroy the other week - playing a different tour but if he can reproduce his PGA form on links courses then his price will seem very big indeed. He is ranked 5th on the Tour Tips current form stats for this week which is no surprise as he has been a model of consistency this season and regularly appears in the top ten across the pond - even finishing 8th and 3rd at the multi course Pebble Beach pro-am in 2010/11. 0.2 ew 200/1
Danny Willett is a player who I think will win plenty of times in his career and nearly added to his BMW win just a month ago when 2nd in Switzerland. He has a great record in the multi course Joburg Open and was also second here just two years ago. Whilst he was only 27th last year he was really out of form at the time 0.4 ew 55/1
I just can't leave out Michael Hoey this week as he seeks to defend his title and strangely he has never had chance to defend a title before. He lost me a lot of money earlier this year when clearly out of sorts but seems to be finding his game once again and 80/1 is more than fair about a player who knows how to win. I took 80/1 for 0.25 ew 6 places but you can still get 100/1 Spreadex.
I have backed a few at big prices on Betfair but am not convinced by the bookmaker prices - Ramsay 60, Warren 95/100 and even young Aussie Matt Griffin 1000

I have swept up all the 500+ on Paul Waring (only £20 worth). I have followed his career since he was joint 19th in the 2008 Open at Birkdale. He seems to play Links golf well and has recorded a 10th at Portrush in the Irish Open this year and was in the top 30 in this tournament in 2010.
If it wasn’t for injuries I suspect his career to date would have been much more successful. Whilst he has yet to prove he can win he may provide a bit of interest at a decent price.

Although its off the back of the ryder cup . i think 18/1 dustin johnson is great i honestly believe he is going to be americas answer to mcilroy he has won 6 pga events, he was 3/3 in the ryder cup on top of that he loves links golf. Hes teamed with his brother and doesnt come across as the type to get to down with losing the ryder cup.

Have a look at the PGA tour website.
All the leaders have played St Andrews.
Most of the back markers have played Carnoustie.
It's more like a handicap than a leaderboard.

Hence the short price on Olesen and a few others.

I spoke to someone at St Andrews yesterday who has walked every yard the first two days with Broberg.

Said he is a tremendous striker, course management round the old course was horrendous.

Went for the par 5 on the front nine in 2 with a driver off the deck and messed up regally.
