1) Bubba v Luke 2) Simpson v Poulter 3) Bradley v Rory 4) Mickelson v Rose 5) Snedeker v Lawrie 6) D Johnson v Colsaerts 7) Zach J v McDowell 8) Furyk v Garcia 9) Dufner v Hanson 10) Kuchar v Westwood 11) Stricker v Kaymer 12) Woods v Molinari

Seems an odd decision to have Kaymer and Molinari out in the final two given the scoreline, guess Olly's just hoping to win 8 out of the first 10 and be done with it.

Actually think Europe have a lot of winnable matchups, but having probably the weakest four performers out last 4 makes very little sense given the scoreline.  It's not like they're going to get this wrapped up early.  GMAC has bottle in spades, so why put him at 7 and risk having Frankie over a 5 footer for the win?
Report Dan Chipowski September 30, 2012 2:33 AM BST
Rory v Bradley should see some fireworks. Grin

Alas, I think it'll be well and truly done by the time the lower order even come into play. Someone with the surname Johnson to hole the winning putt perhaps. Silly

Tiger last is so embarrassing for him
Report Total Bosman September 30, 2012 2:41 AM BST
Tiger last makes absolute sense.  Regardless of form, Tiger is the strongest closer out there.  Either this is a stroll for the US, in which case Tiger's nerve isn't needed, or the momentum shifts and it becomes incredibly nervy, in which case Tiger's nerve becomes vital.  He's in the right position, and it's certainly not an insult.
Report vinnie_roe September 30, 2012 3:05 AM BST
I'm very surprised the the US have put out four of their strongest players out early, knowing that Europe have no choice but to use those tactics..
Report aberdonia September 30, 2012 7:15 AM BST
Why has the op slagged Molinari.

Molinari has played great.

For all Ian's heroics i will be backing Webb Simpson today.

Will also be backing Kuchar.

As has been said, Tiger going out last is not an insult.

In his last 2 four ball matches his back 9 performance has been superb, he has played better the more pressure he has been under.

Tiger is a poor mans Ian Poulter at the ryder cup. Laugh
Report therhino September 30, 2012 7:42 AM BST
Why would you back Simpson Aber to beat Poulter?
Report aberdonia September 30, 2012 7:45 AM BST
6/4 for the US Open champ to beat Poulter in a 2 ball is a no brainer for me.

Simpson played pretty well in the 4 balls, in fact he played very well.

I know that Poulter is playing like a man possessed but surely he cant play like that again..

Ive already placed the bet with stan james so we will see.
Report therhino September 30, 2012 7:58 AM BST
Simpson couldn't beat KT Kim at the last day of Presidents Cup so how you consider that bet a no brainer is beyond me. Good luck anyway you are going to need it.

Kuchar @ 2.12 to beat Westwood had to be snapped up...hoping that Europe make ago of it today though.
Report Scotsirish September 30, 2012 8:54 AM BST
I honestly believe olly has outsmarted love here. I think the pairings give Europe a chance. The 1 player Kaymer had a chance against would be stricken on this weeks evidence. Close arts against Johnson what a match,! Europe could easily win top 3 matches and then g mac Garcia and Hanson games very important .Agree with other posters that woods out last  is no bad thing for USA. Anyway hope we have great viewing tonight as the last hour last night has given Europe a chance. Enjoy all.

Report Eddie the eagle September 30, 2012 10:37 AM BST
Best bets of the day are imo Bubba @ 2.38 and Tiger @ 1.85.
The course is set up perfectly for both of them and both Luke and Molinari will struggle with the length.
Only concern is what may happen in the Tiger-Molinari match if US win the Cup early on ?

Report wildmanfromborneo September 30, 2012 10:44 AM BST
Kuchar looks a great bet but as he is out fourth last I too am concerned about the US having already won the Cup.
The fact that Woods is going out last would be a huge negative as he probably wants to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible.
Report Puggy4 September 30, 2012 10:47 AM BST

Report lustrumm September 30, 2012 11:00 AM BST
U couldn't in all honesty have a bet in any of the last 3-4 singles unless you were going to play draw no bet. I note the US are favourites in 9 of the 12. The 1/6 them to win it is a freebie imo and won't get any bigger at any stage
Report NorwichRob September 30, 2012 11:15 AM BST
The final matches will be pretty well developed by the time the early ones get decided, and possible that the later starters could be finishing at a similar time if winning 7&6 or 6&5, especially as these look a bit one-sided to me, so wouldn't be too concerned about starting out late.

Report incaseof September 30, 2012 11:59 AM BST
Webb had 7 birdies on 13 holes yesterday, he played absolutely amazing. 2.50 way to high for US Open champ.
Kaymers form not much worse than Strickers and I still believe in Kaymer in the clutch, good bet.
Rory should be to much for Keeagan and Garcia seems to be a decent bet vs Furyk .

Backed Europe to win in the first 6 matches.(Fourfolds 15 bets)

Layed USA @ 1.14 (trade for stake @ 1.5 + hopefully !)

Backed 16 losers so far (backed Draws) so may well get the clean sweep.
Report NorwichRob September 30, 2012 12:59 PM BST
USA could well drift for a while when the singles start, reckon that there'll be plenty of close matches at the top, considering a trade there somewhere possibly through a small play on Europe.

Aberdonia - I'm not particularly slagging off Molinari, but Olly has to be hoping this comes down to the wire, and he is not the player in the team you want over a pressure 5 footer to win or retain the Ryder Cup.  The fact that betting-wise Europe's biggest outsider is the final game when Europe are more likely to need the final game tells you Olly's been outsmarted on that one.

ScotsIrish if Olazabal got it so right them why are the US favourites in 9 (huge favs in some pairings) of the 12 matchups. Donald Duck would hasve known you have to put your best performers out first to try and get points on the board.

IMO Love got it right putting Wood out last where in the unlikely event his score is needed one could rest assured he will thrive in the cauldron. He also got it right putting the whooper and hollerers out against the European top 3 to try and unsettle them.

Olazabals picking was summed up for me when he left Poulter (3-0 in 3 games won them all himself with little or no help) for Fridays FourBalls when (the session when the wheels came off for Europe)to give Hansen a game.

Such are the decisons that lose Ryder Cups
Report Total Bosman September 30, 2012 1:53 PM BST
Cleverest thing I think Olly has done is put Luke out first instead of Poults as predicted.  Bubba going out first was very predictable, and obviously designed by Davis to get the crowd pumped up early on.  Putting Poulter out against him would only have fanned the flames, whereas Luke, having local ties, is the least likely to get a hostile reception.  So Luke quietens the crowd by playing steady, boring golf and letting Bubba hang himself, then Poults storms through second up and gets the Euro fans cheering.  Clever stuff if that's the plan.
Report omega1 September 30, 2012 1:54 PM BST

Yes, if this was'nt the Ryder cup. But it wont be about stats today..it's about balls! And there aint many bigger than Poulter's...That's why he's about to be top point scorer the last three times!

I really fancy us in the top half dozen matches and think we can pull this off today.

I rate only Duffner & Stricker as home bankers but think we have bankers in Donald, Poulter, Mcclroy, Lawrie, Mcdowell.

I rate the rest pick em games so with a 10-6 lead I make USA + 2 = 12 & us + 5 = 11.

So all to fight for in the remaining games being only 1 point behind
