Oh, and by the way, if you ever have one bet in your life, back the USA to win tomorrow. I shall declare a vested interest, as I'm in for 100k+ but I'm not trying to shorten the price as it will never reach a price I'm willing to lay anyway. They are provably better on this course and are way bigger than SP would imply. I'd have them below 1.1 going into tomorrow. Good Luck!

I assume the numbers in the first post are in thousands as well?

Hopefully it wasn't too disastrous!  hopefully the 100k isn't the be all and end all for you

Pretty sure Bayes is one of the biggest winners on here and this will be a hit he could absorb many times over. Still not nice to see, maybe he hedged IR.

Fear not. I posted this earlier on General Betting:

No, but I was in very heavy on USA. Fortunately I covered the draw (as it was often value) and managed to save myself.

Europe * 3.30 70,574.20 Back   162,383.61
Europe * 4.73 54,771.74 Lay   -204,035.25
Tie * 4.64 49,951.39 Back   -49,951.39
Tie * 1.76 141,917.72 Lay   141,917.72
USA * 1.38 385,304.79 Back   -385,304.79
USA * 1.65 379,774.94 Lay   379,774.94
*Average odds: On  Off  Back subtotal: -272,872.57
Lay subtotal: 317,657.41
Market subtotal: 44,784.84
Commission @ 2%: 895.70
Net Market Total: 43,889.14

Lost 10k with the bookies backing USA @ 1.4 and lost another 30k on first two days. So +3251.27 for the 3 days!

Still maintain that 1.17 USA was massive going into yesterday.

Actually the last bit is wrong as the bookie bet is net and the BF win is gross. After PC I'm about 1300 down for the 3 days.

It was hairy stuff though. At one point I was 230k red on Europe (albeit with a pretty big green on the draw) and that would have been a bad loss. I knew the draw price would go pretty short if Europe did somehow go on to win it so I was confident the whole lot was not a risk. In the event the market couldn't cope with the pricing late on. At one point at 13-13, Europe were favourite in both the remaining 2 balls but were bigger in the Ryder Cup Winner market. Until the draw went odds on it was always too big I think. Still amazed I was able to ship it all though.

yeah Bayes , when ur trading such massive amounts you might get the price to bail a position that goes bad , but maybe there simply isn't enough amounts in the market to bail quickly AND at a price u need ...
the Tie was trading 1.17 to 1.20 before Tiger missed that last putt on the 18th and europe were 5.2-6.2 ... thats when I bailed my Tie back ... there was just too much noise going on at the time and to be honest I wasn't surprised he missed it ...
Only certain events during the sporting calendar do u get such opportunities to trade in such large sums , must be great feeling when you pull it off thoughGrin

Yeah, I was really surprised that I was able to get such value late on. I guess it's because people wanted to green out lays of USA at such low odds. I actually backed him to make the putt at 1.26 for 7k.

At the prices I like Watson, Woods, Snedeker and Garcia. Tempted by DJ as well but I'll see how Colsaerts drives the first few.

Watson = Lost
Woods = Lost
Snedeker = Lost
Garcia = Win
Colsaerts = Lost

True, they were pretty poor picks. Won't be going broke very soon.

serious figures, can't be good for the ticker trying to to shift around colossal sums in attempts to avoid huge losses. concentrated on individual matches myself rather than the outright although not betting in those figures. liquidity wouldn't have been available on the matches anyway.
