If there is to be any draw advantage it looks like Thursday morning will be the 'scoring' part of the week. Very calm early, increasing as the day goes on. Friday seems to be steady wind all day.

Rhino, i'd prefer to be on the players who have an early start on the back 9. From what i gather its the wind that makes 13-18 so tough. Get through that stretch in par and should be in decent shape.

faldo reckoned he couldnt handle the greens at kiawah, so they must be tricky
i read that all bunkers are now sandy areas so they can ground their club
should be fun !!!

Given the comparatively paltry amounts available I can't see it happening any time soon.
That said competition is a good thing, so here's hoping the purple place keeps improving.

Purple are a joke, when it comes to managing their golf markets.
They don't put the market up until at least 24 hours after Betfair.
They don't have a clue which players are actually taking part in any tournie, including majors, which is just staggering.
There is virtually no market in running.
Having said that, I use them a lot, as there are often far better prices over there, but you need a big bank if you want to play one off against the other.
They have had many opportunities to challenge Betfair in the golf markets, but so far have failed miserably.
Can't see that changing.

Trevor Immelman. A pretty cr@p season so far, but round this track, and at these prices, I just have to get him on board.
Same applies to Bernd Wiesberger.

I won't be putting any on in play, thats all I can afford to punt, just gotta hope Siem or Daly can grab a top 5 first round so I can watch the rest of the tournament a bit easier...

Order matched on Louis at 44s, realy expect a big showing. His tendency to put together performances in bunches is a big tick, paspalum grass will be foreign to many starters but very common in South Africa and he seems very much on the verge of winning something big in the States. Throw his length in and he has all the weapons he needs to win this thing. He is backed up by a small wager on Points, free greens on Davis and O'Hair and a small top 10 wager on Two Gloves - hoping some home cooking, local knowledge and his own bed might inspire a good showing. May add one or two others but intend on saving the rest for in running. Good luck all.

A scorching day here in Northern Ireland, don't you know, and I am now off to stock up on copious amounts of Magners Pear Cider, expensive Scotch Whiskey, and a hat with corks around it. * Westwood was a last minute inclusion. No way I could let him go off at that price.

Stake back on Two Gloves - sorry poke, kept him green though and for top 10, used the stake to get DL3 on side, 470 is massive for the player that has won more tournaments on Pete Dye courses than any other.

Does any one know if Sky are, like in the U.S Open, showing the early marquee 3 ball on red button? It will be over about midnight on Sunday, granted no trouble with weather, and if no play off.

10 mins to off, should be exciting but the weather forecast appears more like a british open event & this might drag on till monday,, hope they are like the british forecasters though.
I am going to war with:
Dustybin Garrigus Oosty Stricker
Top Irish Pod & a lay of Tigger at 10.5
GL all.

Just reading the Post, does J Chapman just copy and paste his selections for every major?? Justin F*ckin Rose again!!

No Callit, can't have his putting at the minute, but is driving it as well as he ever has, if he can putt this week he is a danger. 3's top irish with the books, was hoping Heinz would have layed me 4.5 against Boy Wonder

Yeah, Pod putting really lettin him down. I still think its a pure confidence thing, if he had a few rounds where he is consistently knockin in his share of ten footers, he could turn it around very quickly. And considering he better tee to green now, than when he won the 3 majors,...the glory days might not be far away!! Or i could just be dreaming again!

Also recently finished 8th at the Heratage (Harbour town links) and 2nd at the travellers - both Dye courses. Out very early from Tee 1 on the thursday, 600+ seems very fair.
work cut out now

This will probably give a few people a laugh but I am sticking with my two main bets from the Open. Full list of bets:
T Woods @ 10.77 - I think this is a better bet than he was 3 weeks ago. Back in the States, on a long par 72 with 4 par 5s and another 4 par 4s that will play like easy par 5s. Traditionally these are the courses he does well on. And I just think you will never go far wrong backing Tiger Woods to win golf tournaments.
A Scott @ 34 - Still think this guy is a class act since hiring Williams and rededicating himself. Knows how to win, despite collapse at Lytham. I am keeping the faith.
B Watson @ 34.5 - in my mind, I just find it hard to NOT see him contending this week. The course looks similar to Whistling Straits and players have said as much. Length will be a huge advantage.
J Day @ 85 - Just big enough for me to get involved as he's still a player I like despite a very disappointing 2012. Was in contention at Whistling Straits before a couple of whiffs in the thick rough derailed his round. Still only 24 and has contended at 3 Majors.
S Garcia @ 90 - Not much to back up this pick other than I still have faith in Garcia coming back and winning a Major at some point. Class is permanent and we've seen from many other players how they can come back from a mid-career slump.
G Ogilvy @ 130 - Surprisingly big price for a guy whose been playing some OK golf this year and has a history of popping up in the bigger events. Unfortunately I was not able to get much on at this price, all week someone was obviously hoovering any decent amount that became available.
S O'Hair @ 451 - Not a player I back very often but I think at a price this big it's worth a punt for a player that has won 4 times and seems capable of popping up and winning out of nowhere.
J Huh @ 341 - Possible star of the future, already won on Tour, worth a go at a big price.
C Tringale @ 401 - Young, hits it miles, why not.
R Karlsson @ 468 - Knows how to win and has been in contention a few times in the States in the last couple of years.
Best of luck everybody, hope it's an exciting tournament with few weather delays. And no 72nd hole collapse/DQ to scupper my bets

Made a bit of a mess of this, missed Rory and DJ. Substituted K. T. Kim and Ernie for smaller stakes. Team of about 30 altogether. Good luck, should be a bit of fun for four days anyway.
