And any missed opportunities to trade low or hard luck stories?

-£215 here

If Oosthuizen parred the last hole today it would have completed a 2ball sixfold (westwood, fowler, molinari, donald, tiger, oostcunten) to land over £500 but instead he decided to drop 3 shots in the last two holes.Angry

about broke even.  made on make the cut market by laying mickelson and having confidence on day 2 the cut would move to +3 and a bit on winning score but o/r wasn't good.  main backs were mcilroy/westwood (pre-tournament) and Woods in play at 3/1!!
Report CaptL00t July 22, 2012 10:39 PM BST
Glad you broke even, I also tried to get my dough back on Tiger at 3/1 before Saturdays round. Lost 2ball sixfold (poulter) by one on the saturday too. Had £20 on Colsearts at 100 and didnt trade out at 18s after he shot -5 the first round and he also shot -5 today when it was too late, its just a shame the middle rounds werent both +1!

Won....a small amount....better than losing. If i had greened up all my bets on Friday afternoon and do nothing all weekend.....would be 15 times better offSadSad

It's a strange game.....

Got greedy trading Snedeker on the Friday when he was in the clubhouse and drifting. Turned an all green field from +£1,100 to +£150.

End result traded £140,000 for £250 profit. Hardly worth it, but enjoyed the 4 days as usual.

pre-tourney i was having a decent bet WW

£500 e/w 16/1 seemed generous

couldnt see him out first 6

best driver/home crowd etc

his priced then dropped quickly---where i felt no value--left it

massive letdown

Had big greens on scott, woods, mcdowell and sned going into final day. Went on a date with a fit european bird in the afternoon as i was sure the winner would come from these four. Gutted when my bro phoned me to tell me what happened. Had no signal all afternoon :)

No runners left Sunday morning but did Ernie without Scott, then had it all on Stallings in the states at 7/4 after 3 holes, so managed to turn it round with a small profit.
Report bannahan July 23, 2012 4:19 PM BST
After a slow start Aiken @ 600 gave a little ammo to trade....He was never quite in it and i played GMac on Saturday when he was @19, traded to Els late on Sunday when Els was 4 off the lead (i think) and ended up taking an small loss.

Couldnt get a real handle on this years Open so kept the punting fairly low key...played a few longuns for small pre tourney (Havret/Byrd/Laird/Aiken/Chad Campbell but never really got into it.

Layed WW on Thursday morning knowing he wouldnt be a factor...you cant play how he did the week before and believe you can win a major.

Im normally all over golf majors but this one seemed to pass me by, great stuff on Sunday though.

+£468. Was +£800 on Scott but his capitulation over the last 4 holes had me scrambling to lay him, increasing the green on Els. Not a bad weekend. Could have been better though.

had £50 on scott @44 would av laid a bit off, (800-1,000) going into back 9, was in turkey no BETFAIR allowed so i let it roll, last i herd 4 shots up 4 to play got on plane ad 4 hours deciding what i was goner  treat myself to. got off plane turned phone back on an collapsed in passport control, couldnt talk to wife in car all the way home GUTTED. I then realised he had probly lost me a chance of grand final place in GOLF COMP!!!! Moral of story put a lay-in-play straight the way you placed bet i suppose!! STIL GUTTED!!!
Report md49vd July 23, 2012 6:26 PM BST
one thing i learned about betting is that you learn something new everytime

for instance

i bet £100.00 on vettel to win the european grandprix at about 1.8 and his price dropped to about 1.1 then there was an accident and all the cars had to be brought in by the safety car, when they restarted vettel had problems with his car and he was out of the race.

should have greened out then. Only one thing prevented vettel winning that, which was the safety car having to come into play.
