I generally shoot around 90 at my 6,700 yard par 72 easy course so I'm guessing I'd get somewhere between 180 and infinity - especially since my biggest nemesis on the course is trees.

Probably line up those who built a course on the sides of hills .  Proves you dont need water though to make a course nearly unplayable .  Courses like Olympic would be OK if your drive did not run 70 yards off line when you hit it down the middle . Tigers 69 would have been a 65 on some more amenable courses .

We have courses akin to Olympic here , albeit seldom with comparable fast running conditions and bouncy greens . Play them once in high summer uncontrollable bouncy ball conditions and you will never go near them again .  Might be considered a test in golfing terms , but not enjoyable which is what sport is supposed to be about .

Plus if you call all your par fives as par fours all you are doing is massaging the figures . Of course governments do that all the time , but would expect golfing people to have more respect for the populace . Maybe there are political people organising the US Open .

I hear what you're saying Kelly but safe to say the members don't play the course like this. This is the no mercy reaction we were expecting to make up for last year. With softer surfaces and more manageable rough it would be a completely different course.

The course made for very bad viewing i though....
Report dessys June 15, 2012 10:15 AM BST
I play off scratch and was chatting about this with my mate....the problem is the lack of greens you'd hit, the lack of up and downs and the amount of 3 putts when already missing the green in reg. If a scratch golfer played the course with a game plan of shooting 80 I think they could (playing irons off tees to hit long par 4's in 3 etc etc) but if they tried more I reckon you could be looking at 90's easily.

Report donny osmond June 15, 2012 10:40 AM BST
some chap went round in 66 , they'll have to toughen it up if he does it again !!!

is it harder than augusta, the scores suggest not
Report d13phe June 15, 2012 10:44 AM BST
play off 15

would be delighted to shoot under 120 on that course and I imagine it would need to be a wet day
Report dessys June 15, 2012 11:08 AM BST
how do the scores show it's not harder than Augusta??
Report therhino June 15, 2012 11:32 AM BST
Because The Masters is set up for scoring, you're seeing Olympic engineered for carnage. Augusta with a US Open setup would stupidly difficult.

69 is 3 under at augusta one under at olympic

scores seem similar, the difference is in relation to par

No mate. If its anything like Heaton park, then i dont want toCrazy Heaton Park was an army training facility and the holes are crazy. A bit OTT IMO, just like Olympic club

l play off 17 hit it reasonable straight, and strength of my game is my mid irons, but cant putt to save my life, anything better than level 7s [ 126 ]l would be estastic
Report Wok June 16, 2012 4:14 PM BST
Play off 3 handicap, not long hitter, I would have to play half the 4's as 5's and spend the round limiting damage. Might break 90, might.
Report Far From Trouble June 16, 2012 10:17 PM BST
Reckon a good solid 190
Report laynplay June 16, 2012 10:47 PM BST

Report charwell. June 16, 2012 11:51 PM BST
I play off 12 and I would shoot about 120 I reckon, if that. The imense difficulty would probably reduce me to a gibbering wreck after the first few!
