Expect a comeback from Boy Wonder this week, pride must be dented and needs to make a statement. Is on the record as saying Muirfield Village and Firestone his favourite US tracks so no excuses this week. Awesome field as you would expect, can't wait for this one of the marquee tour events every year. Aside from a couple of smokeys the past winners is a who's who list of golf champs, so only great ball strikers need applying here.

A big week for Jason Day this week. Showed signs of life last time out and is a member at Muirfield Village. Will go close this week.

Muirfield is an odd course in a lot of respects. A lot is being made of the need for accuracy, and this is true. Approach play will be important this week.
However, a LOT has also been made of the wide fairways.Too much. This is silly. People have short memories. Yes the fairways are a little wider than average but they are flanked on many of the holes with some SERIOUSLY harsh bunkers. Last year they claimed many many victims and the same will happen this year. In my opinion the key stats for this week are; Driving accuracy Approaches from 200+yds Approaches from 150-175yds Proximity to hole 2 players stand out; Tiger Woods: DA 37/189, App 200 12/189, App 150/175 17/189, Prox 22/189. Not an inventive pick but Woods likes it round here and has the stats to back it up. Jim Furyk: DA 3/189, App 200 5/189, App 150/175 104/189, Prox 8/189. Incredibly strong stats for a 28/1 shot. I really rate his chances this week. His stats really fit the bill and he is hitting form. He has carded 2 top 10's round here in the last 3 years and I think at his current price he is well worth an each way wager. |

Good to see some of the favourites lengthening.
Rickie F at 23s was good enough for me, but I may have missed the boat on 21+ for Rose and Mickelson. Curtis another one for me at 80s. Adam Scott seems awfully short to me. He's consistent but by no means a consistent winner. Good luck all. |

Quite correct Harry, one win for Moore at Wyndham and I think he'll win again soon, quite possibly this week! I would see the phrase as 'win again soon' far more pertinent for someone with one win than a multiple winner. After all I would hardly be sticking my neck out if I said I thought Luuuke, Phil or even Stricker for example would win again soon. Anyway I'm guessing you don't think he'll 'win again soon'? |

I don't rate Days chances at all and i dont expect a longshot winner this week.thats my opinion and goodluck to everyone.i will be keeping an eye on the likes of Woods,Mickelson 22s,Rose,Stricker36 and Watson36.Woods and Roses price are a wee short though so will leave for now and have an interest in the other 3 im thinking.lets see

Lots of mid-range guys and a few long-shots, as well as Aussies like Scott, Day and Senden. Michael Thompson is one that jumps off the page - was 600+ a day or so ago, now half that.

Harry, I think Moore has just been going through the over anxiety for the past couple of yrs to follow up the first win with another.
Not uncommon and two other players that spring to mind who went through the same thing were Watney & Mahan and look what they've acheived since their second win. Moore is too good a player not to 'take off' eventually. I think he's 30 back end this yr and even if it doesn't happen for him this yr I expect big things from him over next 2 or 3 yrs with multiple wins and possibly a major as, as you point out he has perfect game for tough majors. Good luck for the week anyway. |
