Wilson 50yrd bunker shot, mahan 20 yrd pitch left on 15th.
Report rolo2 February 26, 2012 5:18 PM GMT
i feel the turnaround for rory came with that bunker shot at the hong kong on the 18th. had he messed up that tourney it could have given him serious self doubts. instead i think it made him a believer in his own abilities. that was also the turnaround for from rory layer to non-rory layer. not a backer quite yet, but he has been very impressive. possibly in a different league to other pros at the moment, with the exception of luke, but i think rory in the next few years will just run away with the rankings - dont think he will open up a 10 or 11 point gap like tiger did, but he could certainly open up a 5 point gap over the number 2.

In his last 10 tournaments Rory has only been out of the top 5 once . That was when he had suspected dengue fever , can assure anyone unfamiliar with dengue that playing golf with those symptoms and finishing ( 11th ) is a minor miracle .

Have not seen any of this tournament as I  am away foreign , came home from a charity dinner this evening and Rory was 3 down , now he is 3 up . Figures suggest he changed gear after 4 holes , but not seeing it I can only surmise .
The golf world wants Rory No 1 , he is box office more so than Luke and Lee , fine players though they are . Still a round plus to go though !

Report Jack_Kray February 26, 2012 9:10 PM GMT
Something that was maybe overlooked before, the intensity of the Westwood/Rory match - world numbers 2 and 3 both trying to get to number 1, was probably quite draining for both above and beyond the rigours of playing to win a tourney
