Entrance fee is 50 Riyals (about £8). Before this year it has always been free to get in. I'm really surprised that they starting charging this year as the crowds were never that great when it was free to get in.
Off to the course in 30mins. Going to watch Gonzo today.

anyone have any information whether or not there will be any play today or any thoughhts about whether we'll have a shortened tournament? Its not looking too good for today from my limited viewing earlier anyway

I don't know if they will be able to play more today or not, but I don't think the tournament will be shortened no matter as forecasted wind wont be strong enough to stop play neither saturday nor sunday.
So there should be plenty of time to play all 4 rounds.

I am sure it will be your money, but Scott Jamieson @ 1000s +1 must be worth a few quid.
Having KJ and Hanson from the start means it looks ok for me. My biggest winners are now, Jamieson and Gonnet but I have alot around the -1 mark including Larrazabal and Willet that are big winners also.

You are correct, most of what's up there is mine. He is right on the borderline though @ being a 1000 shot, so I'll probably cancel whatever is left before he start playing, or maybe even earlier. The latter will depend on how the field will be performing when they are back out.

Normally 100 plus quid up there so my guess is around 150k (including is pre-tee off lays?)
Who are your big greens Eddie? My guess is KJ (40s + at tee off was a gift) and I know you are a big fan of his.

tony jacklin shot 29 front nine at the open at st andrews before play was stopped for bad weather
as nobody finished their round the scores were scrapped
it never seems to happen these days but i never noticed a ruling to say when that system was scrapped .....

First round scores were scrapped in a European tour event at Hoylake in 1981, give or take a year, Mosey beat Jacklin in a playoff I think, over 54 holes.

sweetchild and eric, at the most during last year I could have as much as £ 400 - 450 up on the 1000 shots, but since I hit PC3 of 40 % in October stakes has been peanuts compared to that and most weeks I've done nothing. I've had some losses during the last couple of weeks, so is now "allowed" to win that(and a little more) back without having to pay PC3. I've therefore been a little more involved in the golf markets the lst two weeks. I've only done the Eurotour seriously though and have had roughly £ 110 up on the 1000 shots these two weeks.

Choi is my biggest green as he was the only player I tried to back this week. I got some @ 40, but not that much. Those who are fully laid atm are roughly 55 k red and Paul Lawrie, Kaymer, Lynn, Finch and Garcia are in this group.
Those I haven't laid a penny on are roughly 50 k green atm and Choi( a little more on him), Westwood, Quiros, Molinari, Willett and Green are in this group.

at the open at birkdale in the late 80s the third round was abandoned for the day and scores were scrapped. The weather was horrendous and hubert green (i think) ripped it up only to see his score deleted.

For me, I am green Hanson, KJ, Lawrie, Gonzo, Willet, Larrazabal, Gonnet.
Red Day and alot more. so looking OK especially if Gonnet can challenge

Appalling decision to suspend play for the entire day. By 2pm Qatar time the wind was as low as it has been all week. They could have easily got 3 or 3 1/2 hours play in between 2 and 5:30pm. Just before play was suspended we heard Gmacs caddy ranting about how there would be uproar amongst today's early starters if the players didn't go back out today. I don't disagree with the decision to suspend play when they did but they should have definitely gone back out later on.
It really is a wide open tournament now. I'd tell you my pre-tournament picks but it would just sound like after timing at this point. Good luck to all

I go to the event every year. On my way to the course now to watch Paul Lawrie's group this morning. Weather seems calmer today although still windy. Will be interesting to see what it's like on the course.

this course you can shoot -7 or -8 tomorrow those on -3 will have a chance believe me, yes I do expect the leader to be -8 and that will be Hanson or so I hope.

Ricardo gonzalez is overpriced for a lad who has 2 top 20s in the last 2 years, has had just one bogey all week. That will be my only bet this week, hold for the treble bogey.

I went out and watched the Lawrie/Hanson/Molinari group play the front 9.
Lawrie = solid Molinari = up and down, putted poorly Hanson = scored well but only hit 3 out of 9 greens on the front nine. He holed two shots from just off the putting surface.
Wind no where near as bad as yesterday. I've left the course now and watching the rest on tv.

so if -8 leads how far back can you come from to win this? in theory -2 would have a chance but its the sheer number of players between -2 and the lead thats the problem

Hi Guys, at the start of this tournament I backed 10 players for a total stake of £163. As we go into the final round (Sunday) my situation is Paul Lawrie + £740, Colsaerts +£487 and Gonzales + £507. If one of the above doesnt win my liability is -£12.92....not too bad eh?

Sweetchildofmine, Have faith in Lawrie, I have. He is playing out of his skin these last three weeks. On Reporting Scotland 4 weeks ago he was speaking about his game and he said he was going to have a real go at getting into the Ryder Cup. Yes, he does make some daft mistakes but I feel that his determination may well get him through tomorrow...time will tell. GL anyway, whatever you decide
