Bet builders are for mugs. What did you expect?

I'm not surprised but you would expect better than that.  Sort of thing that that should be highlighted on Rip-Off Britain and by Martin Lewis.

You only have to play Fantasy Football to know how rare shots on target are.

A £1 single wins you £1 if both teams don't score

The £1 double wins you 90 pence if both teams don't score .... welcome to the return of 10% tax on turnover ... but wait ... it's worse than that ......

If either team wins 4-0 you win £1 with the single and loses £1 with the double.

Effectively replacing betting tax with the "betbuilder" tax, plus shaving a little extra for the weekly drink up.

It's because the two separate bets are so related that the betbuilder tax is greater than the percentage chance of a 4 or 5-0 win, meaning the double returns less than the single. It does highlight what terrible bets they are.  At least if you were backing England to beat Germany in a double with France to beat Andorra at 1.02, you will get the the 1.02 rather than -0.95

obv they are taking a big % but it's pretty silly to try to double closely related events because their algorithm is going to deduct a huge amount.

4 team acca, bookies take 20p in the £.  4 leg betbuilder bookies take 40p in the £.  It will be worse than that because the odds given for things like anytime ascorer and shots on target are diabolical.  Back in the day I used to earn a fair few quid laying anytime scorers on here and I was laying at far better odds than the standard bookie generally.  Anything where you can't bet the other side is normally dreadful value.

Dave you can bet for fun you know.  I came across this article about Fantasy Football the other day which said those people who didn't spend a lot of time on it were much happier.  So who's the mug?  The person who spends a load of time and wins on average or the person who doesn't?

I know feck all about car maintenance.  My limit is topping up the oil or checking tyre pressure.  I'd never dream of changing a tyre.  That doesn't mean if I have to call the AA to put the spare on that I'd like being called an utter mug by the AA man.

Anyhow the advice would be if you want to play for fun then do an acca.

Alternatively, you could join the leading Fantasy site and play their main weekly game.  The weekly game is virtually luck, unlike the season long game, and you can win big for a modest outlay without them taking a big percentage
