any idea where i go from here?
Im from the uk but have lived overseas last 4 years so dont have a permanent UK address. Came back for a hol over cheltenham to see family and friends and thought i would deposit some cash on Ladbrokes to use at Cheltenham, used a friends address that i was staying with (with their permission).
No problem opening account and no problem when i deopsited the funds, but immediately after they restricted my account, asked for Id and proof of address.
I gave id but told them the issue i have with being unable to provide proof of address but they will not budge at all despite many phone calls and emails back and forward and will not refund the funds ive deposited, what a bummer.

Any ideas where i might be able to go from here, small claims court or am i wasting my time?

Go to your nearest Ladbrokes shop with a few mates and take your deposit.

No point in messing about with the minions at customer service etc.Write a letter to the CEO of Ladbrokes Jim Mullen explaining the situation and threaten legal action etc.His address is here    http://www.misterwhat.co.uk/company/1524659-ladbrokes-plc-head-office-harrow.

Change your address to your home address, whichever country that is, then send your actual information. They may still keep your account closed, but will give you your money back.

You've neatly run straight into Lad's Anti Money Laundering protection and they're not going to budge just because you complain.

You might get around it as janmolbyfatguy suggests - what have Lads said you have to do to get your money back?
