Is this possible in any BF market? They appear to have overcome this anomaly by introducing the each way market IN PLAY.

If you back the winner at 1.01 on the EW market, you will win.

If you back a placed only horse at 1.01 on the EW market, you will lose.

If you lay a faller at 1.01 you will have actually laid less than 1.01 for the place part. WTF market imo.

In play liquidity on the place markets is dead as a dodo  and they bring out additional in play markets, Each Way and the TBP markets, who on earth requested those?

Nobody requested these markets.  As with most of these "operational decisions", they appear to have been made by people who have never had a bet in their lives!

Let alone on the Exchange!

There seem to be two schools of thought here.

There's the posters on this thread saying "these markets aren't very liquid, why do we have them on the Exchange?"

and then there's the likes of Westender who every time he finds a minor league football match (that will have appalling liquidity if offered) that's on the SB and not the Exch posts that it's a sign of PP killing the Exch in favour of the SB.

Personally I'd rather have an illiquid market than a non-existent or a non-in-play one, at least with the former you have a chance to trade out, with the others you have no chance.

I do find it interesting that the in-play Place markets are so illiquid.  The market makers who price the Win in-play *must* be able to do the Place (and Additional TBP) markets from their models, and there's plenty more space to get in, offer the best price and get matched?

IMHO, the biggest problem with most of the in-play side markets is a lack of backer money, which eventually leads to layers giving up, less value being present for the backer and so on....  Spreading what little there is thinner still makes no sense at all.
