**** announce major marketing push in racing

(Copied and pasted from RP site)

WITH horseracing having to increasingly compete with other betting opportunities, **** have delivered some good news for the sport as they confirmed it remains the firm's number one product and will be the subject of a marketing push in the coming months.

****'s managing director Shane McLaughlin has announced a significant effort to build exchange business around a new programme of marketing, including race sponsorship next year.

He said: "This is a long-term initiative and is supported by a ‘Serious About Sport' campaign that builds on a ‘Serious About Horses' TV advert that has been running during the Morning Line on Channel 4 this year."

Dubliner McLaughlin, 37, has been with **** for six years after a spell with ****. He was appointed **** MD this year.

"I've been with **** from the pre-acquisition, Dermot Desmond stage through the purchase and integration with Ladbrokes," he said. "What Ladbrokes bought remains an exciting opportunity and **** is now an established portfolio brand and product in Ladbrokes' wider digital offering.

"We've signed up a couple of brand ambassadors in Hayley Turner [racing] and Tony Cascarino [football]. Both provide weekly columns for our customers that are proving popular.

"We will also be investing further to build our brand profile in racing in particular. Perhaps unusually in this marketplace, horseracing remains our main offering and although we have a range of other sports markets, we're bucking the trend by saying racing is our number one."

McLaughlin described ****'s campaign as "a phased approach to build liquidity and the appeal of ****".

He added: "A key element is just two per cent commission for customers making offers - it's not volume-based either, small-stake players enjoy the same benefit and the idea is to help get markets moving.

"With **** we are very clear we're an exchange first, whereas Betfair [the market leader] has successfully evolved into a broader fixed-odds business.

"Of course ****, as part of Ladbrokes, already enjoys big company synergy, with the advantage of a Ladbrokes-branded exchange bringing access to the much larger Ladbrokes customer base, with pooled liquidity with **** markets."

With Betfair imposing a significant premium charge on big professional winners, said to be up to 60 per cent in extreme cases, McLaughlin said: "We don't have a premium charge so our take from the exchange pool is far less [five per cent maximum] with more going to winning customers."

McLaughlin, who described exchange customers as "passionate and demanding", is seeking to develop new products, including a **** SP.

He said: "We've noted Betfair customers like the idea of having a bet guaranteed by reverting to an SP if a bet isn't matched - they prefer action around a solid price.

"Given we already have the algorithms available calculating existing multiple bets, it's a relatively small step for us."

**** have a good relationship with on-course bookmakers that gives them a core liquidity and McLaughlin explained the **** SP would not be an effort to compete with or replace the ring's SP.

"That's a different market and our customers use the SP in a different way, it's a fail-safe for them not getting their bet matched," he said.

typical, they can't even stand their competitors being MENTIONED on the forum whether in a good or bad way.

Would be great to see purple push a big marketing campaign. Ladcrooks have done absolutely nothing with it since the acquisition. If liquidity can increase, it's feasible that it could snowball, but it does need a long and persistent advertising campaign. Incidentally, I put a small amount (3% of my Betfair bank) in there today in the hope that I can start doing little bits that the PC prevents me doing here. First time I've been active on there in about 4 years.

The lighbulbs were stolen when the premium charges kicked in and the candles are now nearly out.

serious about sport....Don't make me laugh.....daq are and still.....a joke!!

When they added the new site last week, it messed up loads of bets and I ended up having two different sets of figures for the same market when I switched between new and classic versions.

I quite like the new site which was a surprise, but its a nightmare to get markets added. Have asked for 1 market for 4 months, deposited 10k to start trading  with which was a nightmare in itself exceeding various limits? and then they said, after some consideration they wont be adding the market to the site until after x-mas.

You couldn't make it up!  Sad

Amateurs! Which is a shame as they could literally take all of betfairs exchange punters with a good product and some marketing. They need to start seeding markets.

Lanza, I had exact same problem. Rang them up and spoke to 2 blokes. The first couldn't even understand the problem, the second understood the issue and said he'd speak to the IT department. Was promised a call back, which didn't happen. The new site was displaying the correct figures, but like here, it doesn't run quite as well as the classic site.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised with liquidity levels since putting some funds in there, but I agree that it's still a bit of a joke organisation. From their customer services, I've always had the impression it's just a couple of blokes dossing about in a Dublin office, who are highly annoyed when you disturb them.

I tried to bet there a couple of times on the horses when betfair was down last season. A couple and utter waste of times. I was halving prices for a few hundred quid.

I'd change the site so it was as similar as possible
to the one we had here a few months ago.

The same Betfair and Bookmaker BOTs on Purple all linked to prices on here but set a few ticks higher to rip unsuspecting layers off.

When this place is down, the boxes on Purple are blank.

The next new innovative organisation has a free rune now as neither Betfair or Purple meeting customers needs at the right price.

The reason according to someone on another forum is that the few liquidity providers get smarkets to ban winners.

http://www.betangel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=7155&start=170

Smarkets is linked directly to the Betfair Exchange hence the same liquidity levels and prices.

Paddy Power, Purple and Smarkets are not dedicated peer to peer Betting Exchanges so a new entrant is the way forward to meet the needs of Betting Exchange Customers.

Smarkets ban winners so for that reason I am out LaughLaugh

I'm sure a few months ago Purple was ranked in the 9.000's on Alexa for UK, now it's in the 5000's..........some progress has been made and if your chosen sport is Horse Racing then it's Very Viable a proposition.

A **** SP is a step in the right direction , be intersting to see how it compares to Betfair's. I know a lot of traders like to use it as a failsafe for unmateched bets so could easily entice a lot of players over their done correctly. This place seems to be dying on it's feet liquidity wise so any competition or options are welcome at the moment.
