I posted on another thread about a casino issue with Coral. This was resolved but my account was closed and I still have another dispute with them that is currently with IBAS. I was just checking my credit report and noticed they did a couple of searches in late August (I'll check dates I think this is after the account was closed). One was for 'anti-money laundering' and one for 'account management'.

Any idea why they would do this? Would it be to do with closing the account? I consider them a thoroughly dishonest and vile organisation so wouldn't put any sort of trick past them - so interested to know why they might be doing this.

Thanks

Just checked the searches are recorded as a couple of days after the account was closed.

I might be wrong but I wasn't aware companies were allowed to run a credit check on you without your permission.

Reading around I think it's more of an identity/ security check. Still not sure why they would do it (let alone do two!) after or at the point of closing my account.

They last did a check in February this year.

Only a guess, but they could have been checking if you have other names or are linked to someone else (partner) so they could close any accounts belonging to them.

If you haven't broken any laws ich,I wouldn't lose any sleep over it because who know why they did it ?

Here's my far flung thought.  I assume they closed your account because you were too good for the little babies and won some money. Every company just has to make more and more money quarter after quarter.  Like a lot of companies, Coral probably assigned some little weasels to the specific task of coming up with any ideas of how Coral can make more money.  Maybe one of the weasels came up with the thought that if they credit check winning customers and something comes up a bit gray, they can come after those winners  with the help of their legal firm and a threat, hopefully get some money back.  Just conjecture on my part.  Think of the BF weasels who came up with the PC and cross matching.

Thanks for the replies.

Still standing - that's not the reason the account was closed, it was because I complained at being stolen from by dodgy casino software and I didn't take crap from them when they lied, went against their own terms and conditions and accused me of cheating.

I'm just wondering if they were up to something, as the other dispute is still ongoing and I'm still trying to get justice and expose their behaviours. I think blank's suggestion seems most likely, it just seems the 'anti-money laundering' and 'account management' checks being done on the same day that I found interesting/ suspicious.
