How to deal with a gambling addict?

GAMBLERS ANNONOMOUSE BUT HE WILL  HAVE TO WANT TO STOP GAMBLING FROM THE BOTTOM OF HIS HEART TO SUCCEED WITH THEM ,THERES NO EASY  WAY ,THE ONLY ONES WHO SUCEED ARE THE ONES WHO WANT TO STOP AND BE PREPAIRED TO LISTEN TO OTHER GAMBLERS WHOSE HIT ROCK BOTTOM AND BEEN THROUGH THE MILL AND STOPED THEM SELVES WITH THE HELP OF G A ,YOU WILL GET ALL THE HELP YOU NEED FROM PEOPLE WHOS BEEN THERE AND STOPPPED,BUT YOUVE GOT TO WANT TO  STOP LIKE I SAID FROM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR HEART ,OTHERWISE YOUR WASTING YOUR TIME,THERES NO MAGIC WAND OR PILL,YOUVE GOT TO WANT TO 100%

It's harder to stop now than ever. Especially with the trading aspect added to the equation. Every time there's a sporting event on TV something related to gambling pops up. There's no escape!

Get good counselling, but Do Wah is right - he has to want to stop. It's important for relatives, friends etc. to realise
that the gambling addict does not want to win. In his mind he deserves to lose because he is a worthless sh1te. Losing
confirms this belief. If he can find self-respect, and keep it, he might be OK. Good luck and you have my sympathy.

Tell him to go on the Gamcare website and read the stories on there. He could ring them and organise counselling free for I think 26 weeks.

Thanks for the advice. Have given him the contact details of some professional help and shown him the Gamcare website. 

Have also informed friends of his problems so they stop lending him all this money. Thankfully his credit rating is so awful he can't borrow from the banks/credit cards.

He says he really wants to sort himself out but this has been happening on and off for a decade, so I have my doubts.

a punch in the face will at least wake him up n the short term..they have to hit rock bottom before they cop on

u see some never do and they continue to ruin kids and wifes future etc...i know of one man who is a pro sport person in Ireland , he is down chunks , like a few mill..he told his wife he stopped like yrs ago and she stayed with him, however he still carried on ..prob blew another 2m in the last 2.5 yrs or so...if his wife finds out , she will def leave him ..as they wont have much after he retires

they need to hit rock bottom --they only then can at least see then that its the end of the road..the will to stop gambling takes over and many do overcome it.
