Never heard of this  as when I have moved home before I have stayed with the same provider ( EE ) I'm past the minimum contract so it's not anything to do with that. ( I'm going with a local wireless operation btw )

The first person I spoke to tried to blame BT ( line provider ) but it's EE that bill my direct debit.

It sounded like if I could have got the next occupiers on board with them I wouldn't have to pay it. Trouble is the landlord is leaving it empty and for sale.

Anyone else come across this ? Seems a real rip-off to me.

Just spoke to BT. Can leave their phone service without a fee.

I'd be inclined to merely stop the DD. Then ask them to cut it off.
Seems like an entirely unreasonable charge to me.

I probably would do that if it was some firm I wouldn't have anything to do with in future. I might want a phone/ tablet deal with them at some point.
