Are there any significant new rules because of this? A couple of online bookmakers have changed lots of their terms and conditions recently because of it, but I doubt too many of us bothered to read them.
One important one for me is that bookmakers based in Gibraltar would keep my data for 5 years after I closed my account due to "Gibraltar Rules", can I now get then to delete my data if they've left Gibraltar and are registered with the UK gambling commission?
Or are they still based in Gibraltar but also part of the UK gambling commission, so it just gives them extra responsibilities such as collecting KYC documents?

Don't think that they are required to make their T&Cs subject to UK law although some firms might be opening specific UK companies, so look at the T&Cs.
EU wide data protection regs allow companies to keep personal data as long as there is a business requirement. So this can quite easily be 6 years after an account is closed. |
