Does betfair software marketplace need a new software?

Doubt it would be worth the development effort, tbh.

Geeks is fine in my experience. Also, they've been repeatedly selling owned licenses, so a lot of your target market would need to be persuaded to abandon something that's now effectively free to them (ie paid for in perpetuity), for something paid.

I guess alot depends on just how much you think you can improve on the current vendors UI and ease of use, most from what I can see are basically the same just either a table to mimic the website or ladder style interface. Plenty of software out there other than the geeks and that manages to happily plod along despite his life licences so wouldn't let that bother you, if it's good enough people will switch.

If you're just going to pretty much clone what's out there it's not really worth   your effort as I guess most people have their own brand loyalty by now. Best wait til the new API is out and established in November too. Most of the current vendors will just be tweaking their current software to incorporate the new API rather than writing from scratch to take best advantage of any new calls available so that could possibly give you an edge if you have the ideas.

The best API I ever used was custom.  Incredible piece that was clear and easy to use, especially in-running.  Variations on basic triggers.  Match made dutching look like year one mathematics.

The boys that created the api have not changed their platforms in years.  UI has changed and can be smoother.

Custom software is always going to be best but will obviously cost more. So much of the off the shelf software is just so bloated these days with vendors pandering to one or two requests for another pointless added function, either cos it's easier for them to implement or just to stop the pestering. Guess once someone's paid their monthly fee they feel the vendor is now their own personal coder

I be much happier with stripped down versions or some kind of modular software where I could have alot more scope to customise the interface as I wished.

True. If there is a gap in the market, it may actually be for something really stripped down.

Certainly - the comments on software bloat are spot on.

What some of us want is fast reliable triggered bet entry - and frankly there is nothing out there doing it well.

Which is why many of us have had to go the bespoke route or DIY
