my account was accessed in hong kong and then Slovakia or something in quick succession.

Betfair phoned me at 2am nz time and told me (otherwise I would never have known)  The fact they noticed unusual practices make me feel somewhat safer. 

I had the same password for 7 years or so and now change it every 3 months

Betfair used to have an option that you could only access from your computer.  I used to leave it on all the time then only turn it off if I knew I was going to be away for the day and needed access.

I looked for that a few weeks ago and couldn't see it.

Won't solve what has happened but may safeguard you in the future.

Another option that disappeared is the one to limit your account access to the UK only. Always had that set except when going on hols.

354 pounds transferred to poker download,left me with 34 pence in account.Tried to check history where it was used but no information just shows 354 pounds transferred.
How is it possible for someone to know my login details,i've told nobody ?
Must be a Betfair employee but Betfair not interested havn't bothered to contact me and to top it off have suspended my account ?

Using the same password accross various websites is a disaster waiting to happen. Once one site is compromised all the others become vulnerable.

At the very least you should use unique passwords for important sites (Betfair, bank etc.)

I would definitely be  looking at changing the password for other sites that use the same password you use for Betfair as they are now vulnerable.

If I have been hacked and I change my passwords for the other sites,wouldn't this be playing into the hackers hands,as they would see all my new passwords as I change them or dosn't it work like that ?

Once you change the password then they won't be able to log in.

I would download and run Malwarebytes to check for infections and then change the passwords.

Joe if you use the same details on a few sites it only needs an unscrupulous employee on one of them to start checking other sites, no need for them to leave an audit trail on their place of employment. I remember years ago some employee at one of the exchanges may have been play121 had sold account details to some porn company and plenty of us started getting unexpected monthly amounts billed to our bank accounts :)

A tip is, if you don't use poker or arcade etc, is to just exclude yourself from them all.

That way if anyone does somehow hack your accounr, they can't just do a transfer to themselves in a poker game etc, they'd have to try and do something in the exchange.

Bumping this thread because I had a similar situation as the OP but can go one better.

Someone hacked my account and deposited £100 from my bank account to it.  Then transferred it to download poker.  I contacted Betfair and the fraud dept told me the person tried to deposit £500, then £200, but £100 was all I had in my bank account at that time.

These are the statements Betfair make on their website :-

"You can trust Betfair with your card details: Betfair protects sensitive customer data using SSL encryption during transmission and uses 128-bit SSL Verisign Class 3 Certificates"

And this one :-

"At Betfair, the security of your personal information is a priority. When you log in to our website, your username and password are submitted securely. Before your username and password leave your computer, we encrypt them using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL protects information as it crosses the Internet. To support this technology, you need an SSL-capable browser. Betfair recommend that you use a recent Internet browser version, and install vendor-supplied security patches as soon as they are released"

Obviously not the case is it Betfair?

Can you imagine coming home from work to find your hard earned money taken from your bank account and gambled away by a third party on a website that states "You can trust Betfair with your card details" and "At Betfair, the security of your personal information is a priority". 

Tell me otherwise, but it's not on is it?

Of course, the Betfair fraud team mumbled and bumbled a load of pre rehearsed lines with no intention of trying to reclaim or pay back my money.

My account has just been fleeced of £380ish pounds someone run a mock in games account....i have logged with fraud team. keep u posted
