If you had a betting account hacked and all your money stolen, not bank money but what was in the ac, in the 4 digits. It was transfered into the poker account and lost, my guess is the scam is when he/she transferred it they lost it to someone they know and split the money, any thoughts? so far i've been getting no email responses and lippy customer service agents

It must be a matter of Betfair's records who the money was lost to. if I was you I'd be interested in knowing that information. If it wasn't lost in a heads up game.. practically it would be difficult to see how the culprit could be sure who would end up with your money.

Does anybody know your pin numbers? or alternately does anybody have access to your computer when your logged?
Report Sabu • March 6, 2014 12:33 AM GMT
it wasn't lost on betfair it was lost on another firm i'm not going to name yet, they've told me to contact the police and suspended my account as well as customer service been rude like i'm just chancing my arm here, I don't play poker or even have the software for the firm involved and the idea i'd first stick over 400e on a basketball game then go and blow it all playing cash game poker, it's a clear hack, they changed my password and when i was onto customer service they asked me for the last 4 digits on my bank card and then said they had other details when i gave them so clearly my account has been royally messed with, none of my other accounts have been touched as of yet
Report Sabu • March 6, 2014 12:37 AM GMT
No to both, I don't have a dumb password either it's long and nothing to do with a pets name or maiden name or anything obvious
Report Sabu • March 6, 2014 12:44 AM GMT
I thought it was safer than a bank in this account i'm looking for a large goodwill gesture out of this, but now i'm not even sure i'll get my money back

Could try contacting NAPP?

National Association for the Protecion of Punters.

I's not quite their thing but I'm pretty sure they could advise you how to proceed.

Sounds a nightmare - hope you get some joy, mate.

I'd certainly suggest going to some official organisation, or the police of Citizens Advice. It must be in breach of some laws - online fraud most probably.
Report Sabu • March 6, 2014 6:24 PM GMT
Cheers i'll do both, none of my other accounts got touched but I ordered replacement bank card just in case. I'm not near as confident as I was since i've rang the police who told me they can't do much and i've found a thread by someone else who had the same thing happen to them and never got back a penny

W1LL H1LL by any chance?
Report McNulty (2) • March 7, 2014 1:07 PM GMT
The betting company in question will have the IP address of the person who accessed your account automatically logged in their system. They may also have other info about that person such as computer/internet provider etc. You should definitely request this information as it may be of use to the police + would also prove beyond reasonable doubt that it wasn't you who placed the bets / lost the money.

Good luck.
Report dave1357 • March 7, 2014 5:08 PM GMT
Unless you can prove they were negligent in some way ie CS reset the password or changed email you will have no chance.  Ask for the hand histories from the poker.  If it was obvious dumping, ask why it wasn't picked up.

Also you should find out how the account was compromised as you might have a virus keylogger so the rest of your accounts, email, social media could be at risk
Report Sabu • March 7, 2014 6:24 PM GMT
I was able to check sharkscope and there appears that there was no activity on my account so it might just all have been transferred to somebody's account, i don't know if this is better or worse. Powers are the bookmakers, i've anti-virus software and scan regularly, changed all my passwords and canceled debit card anyways
Report racingguru • March 8, 2014 7:33 AM GMT
Tell the company involved you are writing to the Gaming Commission regarding this unless they reimburse your loss. They could well pay you back rather than deal with a complaint from them.

Sorry to be thick but how does the hacker make his money with your account?

The only way I can see is to back or lay on a quiet market with hacked account then back/lay to green up with the thief's account ?
But then it would be bleedin obvious as everything is logged as to who nicked your money?
Report tobermory • March 8, 2014 6:15 PM GMT
The money was lost in an online poker game . Presumably to the account of the fraudster or an accomplice .
Report Simon-Manns-parole-officer • March 8, 2014 7:26 PM GMT
By all accounts some hackers do not hack for financial gain, but for the fun of going 'joyriding' on someone elses account, so the winning party is not necessarily in on the hack.

This isn't getting anywhere

Hi, my name is Brendan. How may I help you?

You hi, i had my account hacked and 1470e lost, i was wondering if you can tell me if it was placed in the casino or transfered in poker

You my account is suspended so i can't see what happened

Brendan Hi &^%&*&%, I can check your account now

Brendan CAn  you confirm your middle name and the last four digits of the card active on your account for security purposes?

You ****** *******

Brendan thanks, this is being investigated for you by our security team, I can't discuss the account I'm afraid

You they came back and said there was nothing suspicous and the investigation is basically done, i have hundreds in open bets and i cant log in and i can't be told how this hacker lost my money either really?

You considering i dont spend my money on casino you think it would stick out if i gambled 1470e on it

You if thats where it went

Brendan I will escalate it on to be reviewed but the account is still showing as closed so I can't discuss it

You i know it's not your fault but the fact i've been done out 1470 and i can't get any information, and i get an email telling me nothing suspicous went on, well for lack of a better word it's **** and bad form. there should be transparency here i've been waiting since last thursday

Brendan Hi ********, our security team have advised you contact your local Police in relation to the issue but there is no evidence of suspicious activity on your account

Brendan Is there anything else I can help you with?

You 1470 was either lost playing casino games, in the at least 7yrs i've had a paddy power account i doubt i've ever put a euro on casino games or else it was transferred to somebody else's poker account and there should be an ip address and my password was changed

You can you tell me how none of the above is suspicous

You the ip address that lost all my money?

Brendan You can reply to the e-mail our security team sent you directly if you wish to discuss it further but their decision on the matter is final

You i've met lisa before i'd question her competency, this isn't final i'm not letting this go i've been robbed and powers have **** up and everybody is getting a call about it, you wont even give me answers, the ip address, how the money was stolen you can help me with those two

Brendan i'm afraid you must email security back to pursue this matter

You i've emailed them twice and haven't heard anything since 6

Brendan allow 24hrs for emails to be responded, can I help you with anything else
Report Darlo Bantam • March 10, 2014 11:40 PM GMT
You used the word "robbed" there. And I say that's right. Definitely go to the police because if nothing else this is theft. Secondly, if that doesn't get anywhere, I might suggest taking civil action, even if that's against the bookie. I'm not sure whether you'd have a leg to stand on there unfortunately but it's an idea. It might be a very good idea to get a solicitor on board, and I'd advise if you do, try researching one who might understand internet theft law.

There was a thread a few years ago on here where a guy had logged into his BF account and found he had £0.00 available when he'd had over a grand in here when he'd last logged out.

He discovered his whole balance was on overs in the champion's league final .The game was still going on and he managed to red out for £50 or so loss.

He said he'd never placed the bet himself .Betfair's  position was that to get into his account they'd had to have known his password , and  , however they found that out , it was his own responsibility .
Report Sabu • March 11, 2014 12:36 AM GMT
the only people who could have my details work for paddy power, because everytime i have to change a card or enquire about something i'm asked for my middle name and last 4 digits on my card. So not much to stop somebody working for the company doing that
Report Sabu • March 11, 2014 8:28 PM GMT
I went to the police station, they told me I needed to print off every transaction that took place during this time as was standard in all fraud investigations. I told them my account had been suspended and I had no access to this information and paddy powers where refusing to give me this information, they told me to tell them I needed it for a police investigation, they still refused and customer care kept telling me that I could only deal with this through security which means every time i email them i'm waiting somewhere between 24-48hrs for every single response. I told them I needed this information now to take to the police and they could email the statement, they said I had to wait, i threw in "obstructing the course of justice" few other words exchanged and they hung up
Report McNulty (2) • March 12, 2014 12:38 AM GMT
It looks like you're not the first to have gone through this experience with this company.

In fact this guy's story seems remarkably similar to yours: http://goo.gl/oYg7nV (link shortened as poker forum URL is v. long)

It's interesting that this case was also a poker dump - I wonder if there is some security issue in the software?

Unfortunately he was never able to recoup his money even after a police investigation. I would persevere if I was you, but be prepared for a long, and quite possibly fruitless, wait.

still ongoing, went to police on thursday. They took my number and said they'd investigate, haven't been in contact since
Report Senyatta • March 25, 2014 7:37 PM GMT
they have dealt very poorly with you. hope you can get this sorted. it appears like a few on here have mentioned. seems most likely it was some cretin who just did it for the fun of it.

pp should email you what you need for the police. they are just hoping you give up like most others probably do with smaller amounts. i remember chip dumping between two of my accounts with them a few yrs back. within an hour both accounts were suspended by security and took me a while before got them back up. so they know exactly whose accounts, if any, ur money ended up in. shame they are so unhelpful

Eventually got it back "new evidence" they said

I think PP is licenced by the Isle of Man Gambling Authority. Maybe worth contacting them directly and explaining the situation if PP continue to stonewall you.
