Decided to stick it up here,as not too congested.I was thinking about this at the weekend,I used to be able to take it or leave it,but in the last two years I seem to find I spend a lot of time on here, either on the markets or the forum.

In fact there is hardly a day goes by that I'm not on here, and if I am out, nearly always the first thing I do when I come in,is log onto betfair.

I am beginning to think it is addictive, would life be more fulfilling,if one stayed away from it altogether.

Does anyone else feel the same way.

I found using limits- even restrictive ones- meant I had to be selective about bet placing. My monthly loss limit is less than I could afford to lose but having a smaller amount to play with resulted in having to be disciplined about when and where I placed my bets.

I also spend less time on the 'net even if watching the box sets of The Wire, The West Wing and Breaking Bad is he lesser of the two evils.

yes, it definitely can be.

firstly, it's gambling which we know can be life-wreckingly addictive for some people.

secondly, it also has the potential to be a kind of interactive game, and we know gaming can be addictive.

thirdly, the forum... well, just bloody look football or chit chat. BF shutting the forum to new members was probably a socially responsible move, but commercially an act of criminal stupidity. it was a virtually free bit of fly-paper, and they threw it away.

if BF wasn't my living, I'd self-exclude.

Betfair can be addictive. Depends how you class "addiction". I use the site every day but I wouldn't say that I'm addicted. It's a job that can pay more than the average wage. Most people work Monday to Friday elsewhere. Are they addicted?

Almost anything in life can be addictive. Some people have a more addictive personality than others too. But betting is one of those things well up there.

gambling sure can be addictive, so can porn, drugs ,booze, even watching tv etc etc,i think though if it takes over your life for a short time its probably not so bad but if it goes on and on and on , then thats not so good, the key is too spend what time you spend on here or the net as a rule is to strike a happy balance, between here and normal life.

Its a great place when you are winning and horrific when you lose.. Ive had some terrible times here and some great ones too. Overall I wish I never opened an account but Im here now and probably to stay. I could think of worse things you could be doing.

it's the fact that trading on BF can be a combination of gambling and a sort of computer game that's specific to this place, I think.
