Finally - the new front page makes it clear (and even) between the exchange and the sportsbook!

Well done Betfair!

No it's not.  Just deleted cookies and sent str8 to the Sportsbook.
Report stu September 6, 2013 12:37 PM BST
But there's two tabs right next to each other now in same size? Or are you on a different version?
Report TheVis September 6, 2013 12:45 PM BST
Two tabs yes, but defaults to sportsbook so not a lot different to before tbh
Report stu September 6, 2013 12:46 PM BST
ok, maybe bit overstated as I went straight to exchange, but still a vast improvement in design.
Report desperatemunter September 6, 2013 2:04 PM BST
yes much better. equal sized buttons for exchange and sportsbook
Report stu September 6, 2013 2:06 PM BST
Just deleted cookies and now I'm back to the old format, where's the tabs gone?? Confused
Report Templeton Peck September 6, 2013 6:34 PM BST
I deleted cookies and there's no change.  Just a tiny tab at the top left which makes sense to only the current customers.
Report Just Checking September 6, 2013 7:40 PM BST
There should be a splash screen with options for new customers "Do you want the best odds, or worse odds and be banned from betting if you win."
Then buttons "Exchange / Sportsbook."

Report Templeton Peck September 6, 2013 8:23 PM BST
Stu, I believe you.  Let's hope it's a sign they've seen the error of their ways.

HI! From my laptop I see new bf page. Sportsbo next to Exchange-not seperate. Accesing from my PC though i see the old version. How about you? I deleted cookies. Didnt help.
Report stu September 14, 2013 9:20 AM BST
Everyone now getting the new page? Exchange given almost equal footing in the tabs options.
Report stu September 14, 2013 9:20 AM BST
One question though - no forum in the new front page??Confused
Report Just Checking September 14, 2013 3:37 PM BST
"Exhange back on front page"
I got a copy of the sun and couldn't believe it, the guy behind the new Exchange website and the guy behind the new sportsbook domination strategy were on Page 3! Then I did a double take and realised it was just another pair of

I deleted all Chrome history a while ago, now every day I get taken straight to the exchange  and even better the old version. No more sportsbook, no more "new site", it's wonderful!

This is great for me because I was always taken to the sportsbook before, then the new site, which pissed me off every day for months on end.
Report Templeton Peck September 17, 2013 9:58 AM BST
Um, this doesn't happen to me. If you delete cookies on IE then you go to the sportsbook with the exchange link in the top corner.

I don't think you chaps are seeing what a new customer is seeing.

Delete all cookies (not just history). Type in www.betfair.com and you go to the sportsbook.
Report Just Checking September 17, 2013 9:23 PM BST
Or try a different type of browser from your normal one, that's not been on BF before.
Report stu September 19, 2013 11:32 AM BST
I'm getting the new front page mostly now, but variable...still the question of how no forum link on the new page though?
Report Templeton Peck September 19, 2013 3:01 PM BST
Personally, I couldn't care less about the forum.

What's interesting is this: www.betfairex.com  Is this the future site for the exchange?
Report stu September 26, 2013 4:35 PM BST
3,815 posts and you couldn't care? Grin

I can’t understand why betfair  push the sports book so much?  The only people that use it are the exchange members who can’t be bothered to go elsewhere or have no other accounts. betfairs sports book odds are that poor and are unlikely to attract any new customers.
Report stu September 27, 2013 5:07 PM BST
Yep, kind of been my view for some time, but oddly them seemed intent on entering a market already flooded with competition, when they had a ready made (exchange) market all to themselves. Crazy
Report sideshowbob September 27, 2013 11:23 PM BST
most people who use betfair probably use betfair cos theyre fed up with bookies voiding bets, limiting your bets to 50p or closing your account. betfair then turning round and becoming a bookie themselves is a bit like linda mccartney bringing out a range of real meat pies. ie utterly bonkers.
Report macarony September 28, 2013 11:48 AM BST
So you would think that in order to grow their, sportsbook they first need to maintain and grow the exchange first.
Report Just Checking September 28, 2013 5:37 PM BST
"I can’t understand why betfair  push the sports book so much?"
Nobody can. Its like Caterpillar or JCB who are making a tidy profit in their niche market deciding one day they want to compete with Honda Ford Renault Nissan Peugot Fiat etc in the already very crowded small family car markets, and throwing their main business down the toilet.

Nuts.
Report viva el presidente! September 28, 2013 6:33 PM BST
one straw in the wind - BF's bloke on Talksport used to bend over backwards not to mention the exchange. today he's mentioned it twice, including pointing out the 3 figure price villa touched on the exchange in play.
Report Templeton Peck September 29, 2013 9:44 AM BST
Betfair starting up a sportsbook makes a lot of sense, it's their execution which has been abysmal.
