Basically they seem be the same really but how many accounts do you have, is their anyone that stands out than others for maybe the webpage layout or customer service or live inplay coverage or whatever, if you have multi accounts is that really needed?

Around 20-25 I'd say, maybe a few more. I can only bet currently with 4 of them, and only 2 are fully unrestricted.

My fav site to use is probably WillHill. Worst website of them all goes to Coral for me, it's just buggy as hell.

I have 1....here. I used to have loads but I haven't bet with a high st bookie online or offline for about 10 years (with the exception of the odd punt in a shop when hanging out with a couple of mates if I had occasion to be in the UK).

i opened loads of phone accounts in the days when bookies started offering bonuses to do so

so did my missus, and mam and dad, and sisters, my hamster even had a tote account !

i rarely use any of them from choice as i think they are good at collecting data on you, and some stopped accepting bets
after a few winners, and some stopped after i plaiced bets tipped up by shroodies on betfair

i still visit bookies to get better odds than on here or back e/w on golf

many of them try to get me to bet using a loyalty card but again i dont like to be tracked

i have a purple account i rarely use

i read lots of comments about winners being barred, are these big winners or what
Report donny osmond June 26, 2013 3:29 PM BST
i had one account closed after one bet that was put up on the golf forum on here

i opened account because of the thread so i guess there were plenty of others
in the same boat

it was just 50 at 4/5, and a free 50 bet

i opened a cedit account and was given a free £50 to bet with, first bet was 10 ew a 200 shot that finished second, they paid me and added on the 30 i hadnt used, lol, and account was closed !!!

I've got quite a few. I think the more, you've got the better. It's worth it just for the promotions.

I've backed Djokovic with a few and if Murray wins I'll get my money back!
Report sideshowbob June 26, 2013 4:22 PM BST
i did have about 10, i now only have 3 that i can actually use. and 2 of those wont let me have more than 50/100 bets on.
Report sheppy123 June 26, 2013 4:30 PM BST
It's amazing! Before I started reading these forums I thought that bookie closures etc. were rare! I didn't realise they were so common! Is there anybody that hasn't had any restrictions!

I've got a few myself and my stakes are generally low.

I didn't last very long with Stan James!
Report sideshowbob June 26, 2013 6:00 PM BST
i got banned completely by james, b365 and ladbrokes. my ladbrokes account wasnt even in profit, so not sure how they decided that. maybe cos i was betting in huge stakes like 5k they decided i wasnt likely to stay losing for much longer.
Report cdog June 26, 2013 9:32 PM BST
how can they assume a losing customer is about to become a winning customer just because their steaks are high Confused
Report mikenz June 26, 2013 10:16 PM BST
the only person who has shut my account is me,these bookies must love me because i never win,i cant believe the stories ive read of closures, why do they do that.
Report CrowsEye June 26, 2013 11:16 PM BST
It's just based on betting activity. You don't have to be winning you just have to back stuff they don't like.

Some of my most profitable accounts have lasted the longest. You just gotta mix a bit of mug business in and don't back obscure stuff.
Report sheppy123 June 26, 2013 11:41 PM BST
It's CRAZY! If the bookies don't want you to back something, then why don't they leave it out???
Report sweetchildofmine June 26, 2013 11:59 PM BST
each way bets in dead 8 runner races
second favourite each way in novice hurdles and maidens
constantly backing pricewise horses

they build a profile on you ..do one or more of the above, have a modicum of success and youre history

its probably fair to say we probably shoot ourselves in the foot , they know we spend lots of time online so to coin a phrase they cash in on it, online sites must be raking it in, especially online gaming, casino sites etc,its all about making profits, never seen a bookmaker , casino go broke yet , have you?
Report CrowsEye June 27, 2013 12:54 AM BST
You never see one of the really big firms go bust but I've seen a few online firms who couldn't make it pay (Extrabet for one), and there are plenty of indies who get cleaned out too.
Report CrowsEye June 27, 2013 12:56 AM BST
Sheppy, sometimes you ask the right questions for a novice and you have the right attitude, other times the stuff you spout makes it seem like you're taking the p***.
Report sideshowbob June 27, 2013 3:49 AM BST
theres one bookie (who i dont want to mention) where i have a constantly profitable account over many years.

they restrict me but not to complete buttons, usually its about £100 for an evens bet. every single time i bet with them they shorten the odds within 5 minutes. theyre obviously not shutting me down completely and using me as some kind of free odds compiler!
Report sheppy123 June 27, 2013 10:21 AM BST
CrowsEye - That's because I probably am taking the p***!

sideshowbob - WOW! That's cool! They'll be asking you to work for them soon!

I get a lot of emails about betting from various people, Mr X being one of them. I've noticed that shortly after I've put the bet on the odds shorten. Maybe it's cos a lot of people have got the same email? There's one thing for sure - they definitely wouldn't use as a free odds compiler! They'd go broke!!!

Since Ladbrokes closed my account, I now use only Betfair and the 'purple' site. Will probably stay with these two as exchanges dont mind if we win or lose as long as they get their commission. Was with PP briefly, just long enough to profit from one of their bonus offers Wink
Report mikenz June 28, 2013 12:26 AM BST
personally i reckon they are basically the same, some have better features than others but the reality is that if your horse you backed loses or professional soccer players cant score goals makes no difference, you still lose, simple as that.
Report funkymonkey June 28, 2013 3:59 PM BST
I opened a Stan James account a couple of years back on a Monday and placed one bet on a horse, that won.

I logged back in on Tuesday, placed one bet on a horse that won also.

On Wednesday of the same week, they closed my account. No kidding.

Ironically, I used Bet365 for over 2 years daily, only for their 4-1 horse offer and no other bets whatsoever. It was a cash cow for 2 whole years before they decided enough was enough.
